Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole! PART 2
in one of these replies on one of the multiple threads, there was a link to an article that had the number of wells in this salt dome. Does anyone who caught it happen to remember the number ?

I was just wondering how many more are potentially filled with radioactive waste and abandoned.

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole! PART 2
List of threads related to the Bayou Corne / Napoleonville Louisiana / Texas Brine Salt Dome collapse.

Please feel free to add any other threads I've missed to the list.

Let's please try to follow the naming scheme I've used for this thread, and post into the latest thread, so we can more easily keep up with this instead of having so many threads with different names and postings flying around all over.

Thanks!

“In Louisiana here, there are about 13,000 of these abandoned wells throughout the state that still need to be mitigated because they are polluting parts of the state of Louisiana and that is Big Oil, our biggest employee here in Louisiana,” retired General Russel Honoré recently told CNN.

So what has been dumped in the 13,000 abandoned wells throughout the state? Are they empty and just been capped?

Just read an account from the examiner today that had been linked on one of glp sites. It was on town meeting in Pierre Part on Aug 24. The info said there were 1300 sites ( or over 1300) - not sure of the dimensions of area to which article referred.

Thanks, that was the one I was looking for.

The 1-mile-by-3-mile Napoleonville Salt Dome below the expanding sinkhole is a large salt deposit pushed up from an ancient seabed below the earth's crust, now housing 51 oil and gas-related facilities.

and like around where the BP rupture took place....there would huge deposits of ....
Methane-Hydrates.
[link to www.llnl.gov (secure)]
WHAT do you get when you combine water and swamp gas under low temperatures and high pressures? You get a frozen latticelike substance called methane hydrate, huge amounts of which underlie our oceans and polar permafrost. This crystalline combination of a natural gas and water (known technically as a clathrate) looks remarkably like ice but burns if it meets a lit match.

did they know that this is there....Matt Simmons did!

if this is part of all this and things have gone bad.....

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole! PART 2
does this not sound like the area of the sink hole?

Methane clathrates are common constituents of the shallow marine geosphere, and they occur both in deep sedimentary structures, and as outcrops on the ocean floor. Methane hydrates are believed to form by migration of gas from depth along geological faults, followed by precipitation, or crystallization, on contact of the rising gas stream with cold sea water. Methane clathrates are also present in deep Antarctic ice cores, and record a history of atmospheric methane concentrations, dating to 800,000 years ago.[5] The ice-core methane clathrate record is a primary source of data for global warming research, along with oxygen and carbon dioxide.

yes it is, even the main site says they put pictures up of the flyover, no video today, but the link goes to hundreds of pictures and I can't find the ones they say they put up today.

So even the videos are stopping. It has gotten so big and taking over that pad that is by it.

They are going to stop releasing any information about it soon.

Can you give us some insight as to what will happen on the EQ side of this story when it goes boom ?

There were links listed in earlier posts showing fault convergence in this area, looks like it would light everything up all the way to the great lakes.

OEP continues to urge residents, those that have evacuated and those that remain home, to check their homes for any changes such as cracks, ground holes, sinking, etc. Anything unusual or out of the ordinary should be reported to OEP immediately. All reports will be forwarded to DNR for proper investigation.

Sounds like they need all residents involved in this investigation if they want to catch something before it becomes too dangerous.

I pray it does not effect the New Madrid fault.

Could this possibly be their goal? It has been discussed here on GLP a few times, the fact that many think TPTB are trying to set off the New Madrid.

back then i remember someone saying that a lot of rain could cause things to get too heavy and lubricated, and that things could start slipping.
i was thinking if the rain made things around the sinkhole "slip", maybe it could start a chain reaction. idk..
