Ever hear of the Orphan Trains from New York City and, to a lesser extent, Boston, that would take orphaned street kids or kids in orphanages and "place" them with families who wanted to adopt them in the midwest -- Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, etc.? Charles Loring Brace founded the Children's Aid Society and started the Orphan Train movement in the mid-to-late 1800s and into the 1900s. Apollo astronauts couldn't have passed through Van Allen's Belt. Van Allen wore suspenders. |
