Baptism of Fire and the Holy Ghost
Baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost refers to the experience of an individual who receives the ordinance of the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. It is the second in a two-part sequence following baptism by immersion in water through which a repentant person committed to Christ and his gospel is born of God or born again. As Jesus explained to Nicodemus, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John 3:5). Commenting on this passage, Joseph Smith remarked, "Baptism by water is but half a baptism, and is good for nothing without…the baptism of the Holy Ghost" (TPJS, p. 314). The baptism of fire, ministered by the Holy Ghost, is manifested through a set of personal sensations, impressions, and insights that constitute a spiritual witness from deity that one has received a remission of sins (2 Ne. 31:17). The baptism of fire inaugurates the transmission of spiritual gifts to the faithful to assist them throughout life in remaining true to their baptismal covenant (1 Cor. 12; Moro. 10:8-23; D&C 46:10-33).

The doctrine of the two baptisms was taught by John the Baptist: "I indeed baptize you with water,…but he that cometh after me…shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire" (Matt. 3:11). At Christ's baptism the Holy Ghost was manifested in the sign of a dove (Luke 3:22), and he appeared to the disciples on the day of Pentecost as cloven tongues of fire (Acts 2:3; see Jesus Christ). The ordinance of conferring the Holy Ghost initiated early Christian converts into the Church (Acts 8:12-17; 3 Ne. 18; Moro. 2-3; 6), and is a practice (often referred to as confirmation) restored to the latter-day Church and administered by the Melchizedek Priesthood (D&C 20:38-41).

As symbols for baptism, both water (used for washing) and fire (used in the smelting of metals, hence a "refiner's fire," Mal. 3:2-3) represent agents that cleanse and purify, the former externally, the latter internally, leading to sanctification (Alma 13:12; Moro. 6:4). In addition, fire suggests warmth and light, realized in tangible sensations such as a burning in the bosom and an awareness of enlightenment accompanying the reception of the divine spirit (D&C 9:8; 88:49).

For Latter-day Saints, baptism by fire and the Holy Ghost is a real phenomenon in literal fulfillment of God's covenant to those who repent and are baptized (2 Ne. 31:10-21). Through this experience a person may realize the promises Jesus made with regard to how the Holy Ghost would function as a Comforter, a witness of the Atonement, a teacher, and a guide to truth (John 14:16, 26; 15:26).

Re: Baptism of Fire and the Holy Ghost
I believe a born again believer has the holy ghost inside which leads and guides and directs him or her. It condemns you when you sin, you feel it, it speaks to you quietly, leads you and helps you as long as you will recieve the Holy Spirit.

Church's that teach the initial evidence of recieving the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues I don't agree with at all.

Jesus was baptized with the Holy Ghost, he didn't speak in tongues.

Speaking in Tongues was used in the book of Acts in this manner. The group of people that were listening to the speakers were from all over the regions speaking many different languages. Those people heard the speakers in their own language. There was a practical use and a purpose for the tongue.

A lot of Baptists will say that speaking tongues is of the devil, my grandmother always said that.

I wont go that far, but I will say that it originates from somewhere other than the Lord, and it spreads throughout a particular congregation. Everyone then wants to do it, and be part of the group. Sometimes the congregation begins to worship that, instead of god.

Ive found that these same churches teach that there always has to be an interpreter, where does it say that in scripture? and Ive found that the interpreter is always or nearly always the same person.

The holy ghost is real, you can feel it, you can experience it. Speaking in Tongues had its purpose on the day of Pentecost, it would serve no purpose today. God can do anything, but just read your bible and understand.

just and FYI, I am a Reformation Movement Christian, IE Christian Church (not disciples of Christ, or Church of Christ. Independent Christian Church.

People like this man make Christianity look bad and illegitimate for that matter.

Just remember that jesus came for Forgiveness, and that you can have the holy spirit if you ask him, you dont have to jirate in the aisle, or take to the platform with a hoolah hoop or roller skates and pretend to speak in unknown languages. God didnt send jesus so only certain groups can accept him, certain denominations, or so called modern preachers can preach his word. These people in the video praying and ratteling on mean well no doubt, but the man leading the procession should know better.

I forgive you, Jesus said.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape, as a dove upon him; and a voice came from heaven: Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased." Luke 3:22

and Jesus did not speak in tongues.

When you succeed in awakening the Kundalini, so that it starts to move out of it's mere potentiality, you necessarily start a world which is totally different from our world.

Re: Baptism of Fire and the Holy Ghost
You are talking RELIGION.
Jesus is known by many names and forms. Speaking in tongues is a physical manifestation of The Presence of Love/GOD.
Jesus came to set the captives free of RELIGION as ALL those who opposed Him were RELIGIOUS LEADERS. Believe in a limited God if you choosehfohyeah to. My Father has given US true BELIVERS ALL POWER to EXECUTE ACTS OF COMPASSION. You can't buy or sell something WE BELIEVERS ALL POSSES. It's not a gift that can be EARNED either so please continue talking about HOW The Holy Spirit CAN NOT manifest inways you have NO EXPERIENCE IN. The Tongue of Angels will be HEARD AGAIN. Sooner than you could ever have imagined.
