Worms usually come up from the ground like that during heavy rains where the soil is so saturated that they can't breath. Could the water table have risen significantly there recently? Earthworms will also come to the surface if the soild is vibrated too. Could it be from a low frequency vibration? "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

I wonder if there is liquefaction anywhere near there. |

Rather interesting and certainly not a good sign, necessarily. Life's-A-Bitch User ID: 1243271 United States 08/13/2012 03:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The humble earthworm: memento mori extraordinaire: "Remember that thou shalt die." The Conqueror Worm, devourer of prince and peasant. Metaphor for the frailty of the flesh, subverter of monuments, leveler of empires. Emblem of the vanity, the evanescence, and the end of all human endeavour. And yet, paradoxically, this earthworm, this great destroyer, is also a great builder- a builder of fertile topsoil, itself the sustainer of all civilization. Just because YOU don’t believe in the Rougarou; or the Loup Garou, don’t make you safe; No ! The Constitution is a blend of 'moral certitude' -- which is one of the reasons that criminals are determined to be rid of it and We the People must be even more determined to defend it. "If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." - Thomas Paine The only thing the Illuminati fears is an independent person who can live, eat, sleep, stay warm and defend themselves separate from Federal help. Pray that the Lord gives us more time! The End is near and time is short! A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. ~Proverbs 18:2 For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible "A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle" - James Keller Checkd, Keked, and Rekt! #Kids2 |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 13193373 Portugal 08/13/2012 03:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is not unusual. When I was a child growing up on a farm in rural South Australia, we often found thousands of dead earth worms after heavy rains. The soil would become water logged and they would come to the surface for air and still drown in the puddles. Without further testing or investigation, this is not an unusual phenomena. has there been heavy rain or other means to inundate the area with water? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 21414916 United States 08/13/2012 07:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When I was married I got the bright idea to raise worms. I got an old washtub and put it down the basement and filled it with topsoil. I bought and caught many night-crawlers and put them in what I thought was worm paradise. Actually worms don't like wash tubs much and can (unbeknownst to me) crawl out of them. My long suffering wife on going down to do the laundry barefoot one day stepped on many of them and fell down. She was most unhappy and my love life was interrupted for a short while. Maybe not 10,000 but close. Just a word of warning if you decide to be a worm Entrepreneur. It ain't worth it. |
