I might know the answer to OP question. I know Merkaba is a term that is often used in conjunction with the Merkaba Light Body. The Merkaba Light Body is a human's energy body. It is believed to be a way of interdimensional travel. It is also believed that there are two pyramids of energy in rotation that eminate from the human body. One pyramid is rotating with the tip pointing upwards and the other pyramid is rotating downwards. If one were to be able to see this Merkaba light body it would look like the Star of David except it should be 3D and rotating. So in order to activate the merkaba light body, a being must be in balance. A balanced human can be defined as a person who's 7 chakras are opened, and in balance with eachother. When the 7 chakras are in balance the Merkaba Light body can be awakened. So I believe that the statement 7 angels of the merkaba is referring to is the 7 chakras of the human body.

Also, the merkaba body can be awakened through certain eye movements...just fyi.
