EMERGENCY G20 meeting likely over SOARING FOOD PRICES!! This is getting SERIOUS...Already seeing prices RISE!!
An emergency G20 meeting may be called because of soaring food prices. I'm sure as usual there will be no resolution. With governments already broke, I don't really see what they can do. Remember just before the huge 2008 financial crash, we saw massive increases in food and energy costs. Are we about to repeat history only 4 years later?

This is getting really serious now, and I am already noticing huge prices increases at the store.

What do you think will happen with food prices in the coming months?
In your area, are you already seeing the rising cost?

Hopefully we can get some drought relief in the next couple weeks, even though more of the drought stricken areas are not recoverable.

Even with the government buying a bunch of meat, I don't really see what that will do except a tiny tiny bit of short term relief for farmers.

IF that is really the governments solution to this problem, we are so totally fucking screwed.

For most families in the US, this will be an irritating inconvenience. The REAL problem will be with the third world countries that are already operating at bare subsistence levels. 1.2 Billion people live on less than $1.00 per day, they will be the ones most heavily impacted. This starvation and famine situation always results in war.

I just got back from dollar store. Spent $90 and got nothing but coffee, pizza mix, cheese, milk, and a few cleaning supplies.

I feel very sorry for a family of four trying to feed their family. Luckily, I raised my children during the 90's when food, gas, and salaries were reasonable.

I, also, feel sorry for my adult children trying to survive in today's economy.

Buckle up, we will all have to do with less so those in the upper .001% can have more. Do your part and just eat less.

Cool, thanks. I am already seeing prices creeping up in Canada. Eggs alone are easily $3 for a cheap dozen. I am also noticing a big rise in pre-packaged foods as well. Tuna is like 3.79 for some cans. The cheapest no-name cans are like 1.99 now. You NEVER see tuna on for 99c anymore. Very rare.

Many other examples, but the rise in prices is basically everything. It's more like 20c here, 10c there, another 10c, then another 5c. I remember Old El Paso Burrito kits were 3.79 quite a while back. Now as much at 5.99. Insane.

Shit, I paid $2.20 for 3.6 oz of ground black pepper atthe Dollar General today. Why cuz the Save alot was 2.45 and the Food Lion was higher and so is Wally World and the Lowes foods store. All of them are higher.
But I got a great deal on a nice pork roast. I got a nice one for $3.81 and it was 3.715 lbs. @.99.lb! Not bad. they had more but I needed to get some other stuff.

They had 5 lbs of white or red potatoes for $1.97 each so I grabbed some of them.

Maybe Deflation in non-essential items such as TVs, and cheap Chinese crap etc.

I'm pretty sure the price at the pump is not deflating. It must have deflated from 60c/litre 15 years ago to 1.30/litre today right?

And yeah the price of food is deflating in your opinion too? HAHA... yeah it deflated all the way from 15c for a can of soup 50 years ago to like $3-4 today. lol funny guy

that's the one nice thing about being a cannibal, all you need is to stock spices and marinades and sides(rice is still cheap and oh so versitle), and the main course, it comes to YOU and you can be as picky as you want depending on how you like your marbling. According to the article it will affect prices globally.

I did my grocery shop today and they are pretty much the same as what they were 2 weeks ago.

So no flow on effect here as yet.

Nah. They'll just reduce the size of a frozen pizza to that of an Oreo and keep it the same price.
