I won't go quoting the whole convo but this is to the lithium/opium discussion; when I joined CSOR and we got dropped into afghan territory the first mission we did (my regiment) was secure a group of opiate fields just outside of Kandahar, I was 4th in command at the time (I was a 2nd lieutenant) and we had 2 captains, these 2 caps just stood there in sheer disbelief looking at us and the fields, we all knew what they had been thinking, I remember the look in one of the captains eyes (like he had the 1000 yard stare) this man had been in JTF2, here he was litterally lost looking for answers as to why our objective was a tribe of farmers and their fields, we stayed there for exactly 2 months and 10 days (I kept a full chart of our deployments, missions, objectives and casualties for personal reference) all the men in our regiment knew we had been duped.

Now for lithium and the other precious minerals in Afghanistan, over 1 billion in lithium alone and another 2 billion in other precious minerals and metals, Afghanistan can litterally terminate the warlords, have running water and electricity and get this build up a decent military, all us Canucks do over there now is train (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) with training from other countries Afghanistan could litterally become a Kazakhstan in probably just over 10 years, unbelievable? Yes unrealistic? No.
