see...thing is...this is a "call in" show...designed to discuss timely topics of the day...current events, local happenings of anyone who might be listening...

we were never supposed to be the ones picking the direction this hourse would go, see? that's why we put the "interactive" in the title...we provide the forum and set the table, the listeners provide the topics (or interest in the game), and everyone comes on in and has a fine old time...

i know there are plenty of people out there...not just on this board, with plenty to say about what's going on in the world and the like, and plenty of others who'd like to discuss those issues with them...

for some reason, people are either afraid to call or they just don't give a shit about caling....they'll wait til someone else does it and then jump on the bandwagon...here, sheep sheep sheep...

i'm not talking about everyone...and we do love all our regular listeners and participants...it's just that we can't sit around for 5 hours every night with phones, skype, the conference line, whatever...with any of these open and people not participating...yes, there is participation in just calling in to say hi or sit with the others in skype and talk about whatever...but is it always worthy of airing...? does it fit with what we want to do with the show...? not always

seems a shame...we're working on ideas to get a broader base of people involved...step things up a bit, move things in a positive direction...

if glp'ers don't want to...fine...we'll call in the backup troops...there's a whole wide world out there...

Okay E&E and Eddmoo, here's my take, please no offense as I have a propensity to be blunt.

It would be useful to know what the stated intent of GLP radio is, from the people that are paying for it, the guys behind the curtain pulling the levers. If's it's just for fun and games, that's one thing. If it's for profit, which it should be IMHO, than it's quite another, and from where I stand, what...it's 3 months into this deal.....we have not come all that far. However to counterbalance this, IIRC from the book guerilla marketing, it takes at least 16 weeks of hard work and REPEATED ADVERTISING to have any noticable effect on the volume of business per se. IMHO you guys just posting a thread that is not pinned on GLP nightly is not enough to drum up interest and repeat business.

If I were running the show I would have the big dawgs with the money pony up some cash or prizes and vary the games a bit. Something like ipod nano's or likewise slick consumer electronics stuff. Than start to attract LIMITED advertising, sort of like you see on shortwave radio. Hey I make a hell of a tin foil hat, actually it's made outta mu-metal for additional EMI/RFI protection from mind control types, LOL.

In summery, success in any new business endeavor requires repeatability, consistency, time, and gimmick/games/REWARD SYSTEMS to keep the woo woo's coming back.

To be honest I think the animosity between GLP and other forums has likely been a hindrance to glpradio. Your potential audience and the sort of people (woo woos) who would call in to discuss topics don’t tune in due to the radio being sponsored by GLP. Obviously the past forum wars have nothing to do with glpradio, but imo it may be a factor in the lack of participation.
