Badcarma69 (OP) User ID: 21984126 United States 08/14/2012 10:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Peggy Howell, spokeswoman for the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, says airlines often run short of extenders on a flight. That, she says, can add to the embarrassment or frustration large passengers already face when they fly, such as being required to pay for two seats in some instances, she says. "Sometimes the airline doesn't have very many of them," Howell says. "Sometimes it's embarrassing to ask someone." but?? wtf?? Badcarma69 (OP) User ID: 21984126 United States 08/14/2012 11:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Many companies have long sold extenders for about $50 to $80. But the FAA said in its notice that it's concerned they may not be inspected and maintained as well as those the airlines use. The agency said they "should not be used," even ones marketed as "FAA-approved" or "FAA-safe." Wake up my friend, be the one person who makes the difference!!!! 1 [link to youtu.be] |
Badcarma69 (OP) User ID: 21984126 United States 08/14/2012 11:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Federal Aviation Administration issued a reminder to the airlines at the end of last month that their extenders — which add 25 inches to the length of a regular seat belt by being buckled to the ones on planes — are the only ones to be used. Probably not. For the rest, ehhh, just get on the damn plan and don't spill over into my seat with your rolls of fat. |

He'll be taking you through my little spiel here. Tommy is a Scorpio, he likes biking, and he's never been laid. Exits, okay, there's one back here, and there's uh, probably one over by the wing somewhere, usually. And what about seatbelts? To fasten, take the little end stick it in the big end and... hey, know what? If you guys don't know how to use a seat belt, just ring your call button, and Tommy will come back there and hit you over the head with a tack hammer because you are a retard. Okay, and life preservers, these... we may need. Although what are the odds of us actually hitting a lake? My money says if anything, it's gonna be a mountain. |

KungPowMeowMeow User ID: 11092695 United States 08/15/2012 12:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am a flight attendant and got the memo about a month ago on this issue. There is not much to debate. The main problem with these seatbelt extenders sold by private companies is that they don't work on every aircraft because the seatbelts are different. That is the reason. End of story. It is not a ploy to make obese people feel bad about themselves, it is to make sure everyone is properly strapped in. And about that video commentary on whether obese people should buy 2 seats or the airline should "eat it" as they put it; the one who "eats it" isn't the airline, it is the person sitting next to the obese person. How will the airlines know which people to give extra seats to in advance? Flights are full these days, so if they've sold every seat who gets kicked off? The guy who knew he was too big for one seat or the normal sized innocent bystander sitting next to him? And...if obese people get 2 seats, I want one too! I am a normal sized person, but I don't like sharing the arm rest, so I deserve 2 seats! Or I have claustrophobia and need 2 seats. Or because of my religious beliefs I cannot sit next to a woman I am not related to so I need 2 seats. When does it end???? The airlines are in the business of selling space for items, or people in this case, to be transported from point A to point B. The more weight you add, the more fuel it takes. If people want more room and bigger seats it costs more, like in first class. Airlines like Midwest Express had entire airplanes of first class, and you know what? They went out of business because they couldn't get people to pay more for the space when the economy tanked. The public has chosen cheap over comfort, its apparent looking at the success of Southwest, Spirit and Jet Blue. With that, anything extra is gonna cost ya. This includes an extra seat. Sirrx7 User ID: 19420482 United States 08/15/2012 12:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I once flew from Newark to L.A with a larger guy. He wasn't so big but the stock seat belt didn't fit him so instead of embarrassing himself he just tucked both sides of the belt under his gut and pretended to be buckled in. I told him I'd happily ask the stewardess for an extender but he said he has his own but accidentally packed it in the wrong bag. He didn't like asking for one and making a scene. Felt kinda bad for the dude but we took off, landed, and had a few bumpy patches along the way but he stayed in his seat as if he were glued in so all worked well. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1208995 08/16/2012 06:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | WHY should the World continue to pay for OBESE people and the extra added shit that comes with trying to accomodate them all the time. They cost bussiness so much extra money it isn't funny anymore. I had to sit beside a guy who took up two seats and trying to get over top him to use the restroom wasn't even funny. I made him get out of his seat on my return which took him about 5 minutes. The guy could hardly move. Had me sick. How can anybody let themselves go like that. A few extra pounds is one thing but a few hundred extra pounds is another. They don't care. I really don't care. They should pay more for Health Care also. They cost 30 billion dollars a year. There's no stats on what they cost bussiness? How are these people going to make it when things get worse and shit hits the fan. They can't even run to save their own lives and who's going to be able to carry them or help them to safety? I don't understand how people can have so little respect even for their own selves. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21733088 When the shit hits the fan the fat ones are dinner. Set traps near your camp, less distance to drag 'em. |
