Not the greatest achievement in filmmaking, no, but a good story. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2469884 So why do you hate it, OP? Beyond just "it sucks" I mean. I was hoping it would be less glossy and teenager and more gritty and earthy. It just seems like a Twilight or something. No real feel, waaaayyy to ultra-modern ish. |

They did do a bit of the HW treatment on it. Kids killing kids, though -- you have to gloss it a bit to make it watchable at all. I really liked the girl they picked to play Katniss, I thought she did a great job. And part of the story is the glitz of the Capitol, which I can see might come across as cheesy. In the books, it's horrifying -- all these people gorging themselves while others are starving, and watching death sport for their entertainment. Maybe if I hadn't read the books and liked them I wouldn't have cared for the movie. I can't speak to the "Twilight" comparison as I never watched those movies and got about 100 pages into the first book and had to quit, it was so stupid. |

Starving people giving up their children to be killed in gladiator type games is symbolic of child sacrifice The name of the fictional country in Hunger Games is called "Panem", as in Pan Empire, as in Pan the Goat God, as in Lucifer. Hunger Games = Child Sacrifice Panem = Lucifer |
