Heartbreaking song sung to raise money for son's brain surgery...

In a nation that sends money to save children around the world Noah's family has to sing to pay for the treatments that could save his life. Something just isn't right about that.

Thanks for the pin.

I ran across this story while on lunch and it broke my heart to see this little one suffering so much and his father having to sing to raise the funds for his care.

Why doesn't he just take him to the doctor, who will refer him to a hospital, where a world class neurosurgeon can operate?

Oh that's right, he's in America.

The peanut gallery that usually defends pay as you go health care are unusually quite on this one.

Glad to share it NTC, doubt RNC would touch this with a ten foot pole.

Have just lost someone close to me to a terminal form of the big c, she spent much time in the hospital receiving care, the only bills her hubby incurred were the parking fees.

Having to sing for your babies care just breaks my heart.

Don't get me wrong or hate -- I'm not defending pay as you go.

I'm just lookingo for more info. Why don't they have insurance? No job, no money? There is no full name to search on, just Noah, Mike, Jesse and Cappella Records.

Isn't health insurance on a new born around $50 a month?

What kind of work does Dad do? Maybe someone can give him a job with health insurance so it doesn't happen again.

I don't normally donate money with so little info.

For example, what type of tumor? Who is the doctor who diagnosed it and where is the hospital. Hell what country do they live in. Some here say American, but the OP is in Canada.

Seems fishy to me.

I've just donated and would urge other people to do so too, even $1. It can be done over PayPal and took me less than a minute.

My heart goes out to this kid for sure and the fact that his dad actually decided to do this for him is great.

I can't believe that a country that calls itself the most free nation on earth would allow this kid to suffer and die without any payment.

Makes me feel grateful to live in the UK.

And there's more

Major health insurance companies in California and other states have decided to stop selling policies for children rather than comply with a new federal healthcare law that bars them from rejecting youngsters with preexisting medical conditions.

I've been doing research myself since reading this.

I've concluded it isn't phoney and the donations help pay the bills but the child is getting treatment.

I've also concluded that even a straving musician could have afforded a child only policy if he had purchased on prior the diagnoses -- like when the child was born.

But

Obama care has all but eliminated the child-only policies because of the pre-existing provisions. (See LA Time article.)

They just got caught in between when the laws became in force and when the free insurance kicked in. Fast forward to 2014, they would have had health insurance funded by other people/taxpayers.

So the kids is sick, but being taken care of. Dad is in dept up to his ears, but he bet against that happening when he didn't take private insurance. The private insurance options basically no longer exists and they're in the gap until the taxpayer provided insurance kicks in.

Thanks for looking into this, you make a good point on "he bet against that happening when he didn't take private insurance"
Being a public defender he should have been able to afford it(you would think)
The bottom line is the kid IS getting treatment. And he has some great talent to make the money to pay his bills.

I still think there are some things missing in this story.

I can't believe no one has said this yet--the dad is a really great singer--all his covers on YouTube are excellent. So for anyone donating--this is a real win/win--He should have been on AGT last night--youTube night and most were horrible. He could have won--easy.

The baby has had several operations--he died on the first one and they had to revive him and quit the operation.

Such a beautiful child--hope he makes it.
