The Cloud Computing Conspiracy
Cloud computing is the idea of putting all of the planet's information, both public and private, on servers at a central location. Instead of having photos, documents, etc. on your desktop at home or laptop, that information would be on a server that you could access over the web. Information about technology would no longer be available in books at the library, it would be available electronically online only. If people fall for this, the cabal that controls the planet would have total control over the dissemination of this information. In other words, they can keep the people dumb by not allowing them access to technological information.

Regardless of what disasters strike this planet, all are survivaval. Nuclear war, EMP, asteroid strike, etc. would all leave some humnans behind. So long as the information about how our technology works is available in books, those remaining humans could rebuild our society and our technology. However, if all the information were to be stored in a cloud, it would probably be destroyed in one fell swoop. Back to the stone age we go.

Hopefully humans will not be dumb enough to throw out all books. However, Google taking every book, scanning it, and putting it online is just the beginning. Schools are beginning to use electronic textbooks. So what happens when people no longer use books and rely only on online information? Books become obsolete. The next generation will grow up in a world where books are relics like vinyl records, a sign of a bygone era. When demand for books drops to certain levels, they will no longer be printed. At that point, the cabal takes full control of our world.

We share so much already, started with MySpace, so what's the harm in clouding? Sounds so cute, too!

You fucking people are clueless. Go back to your Nibiru/911/aliens/Ron-Paul/Fed/etc. conspiracies. You wouldn't know a real conspiracy if it hit you on the head.

We're with you man but it's like trying to fight a tidal wave.
Just collect your books, store them in a cool dry place and hope that someone in the future will be able to read them..

Re: The Cloud Computing Conspiracy
You have no idea about cloud computing.

Think a bit harder! Computer servers are being used to store electronic records is NOT cloud computing. Computers being used to store electronic records is not new. You may want to debate that...but that is NOT cloud computing.

Cloud computing is using virtual servers and virtual storage to implement an IT architecture. The use of virtual servers and virtual storage is supposed to be scalable and more economical. The practicality and economics of cloud computing is also debatable.

You writing about electronic storage and calling it cloud computing = FAIL

Ummm, I don't appear to be clearing up the situation....here try this...

You want to go from Boston to Seattle...

A.) You fly on a Boeing 737 from Boston to Seattle.

B.) You fly on an Airbus A-320 from Boston to Seattle

C.) You take the bus from Boston to Seattle.

If you are against flying...it doesn't matter whether you choose option A or option B...they both result in flying.

Same thing for cloud computing and "separate servers"...if you are against storage of stuff like passwords on the Internet...it doesn't matter what the heck they do it with...physical servers or "cloud computing"...you are against storage no matter what happens.

Re: The Cloud Computing Conspiracy
...

Future historians, anthropologists, archeologists (if there is a distant generation that survives) ... we are now in a period that may be a maddening blank to future historians--a Dark Age--because nearly all of our art, science, news, and other records are being created and stored on media that we know can't outlast even our own lifetimes.

Due to the relentless obsolescence of digital formats and platforms, along with the average ten-year life spans of digital storage media such as disk drives, USB jump drives, magnetic tape and CD-ROMs, there has never been a time of such drastic and irretrievable information loss as right now.

I suppose the concept that promoted the building of seed vaults could be used to store the world's increasing knowledge ... a sort of Library of Alexandria. Maybe someday the NSA will allow us to access their 'cloud vault' (yea right)

See LoneWolf's comments:

Binney Claims FBI Has Access to NSA Mass Intercepts
(very interesting video btw)

NSA Intercept Volume

The NSA collects millions of intercepts per hour, and the volume of them could fill the Library of Congress every three hours. Needless to say, NSA computers have huge storage capacity to hold all the intercept data.

NSA Data Collection
NSA intercepts data from the following sources:

* Phone calls
* Text messages
* Credit card receipts
* Facebook
* Myspace
* Twitter
* GPS tracking
* Cell phone geolocation
* Internet searches
* Amazon book purchases
* E-Z Pass toll records

* 2001 – NSA provided specifications for Black Widow, a large Cray computer consisting of 16 black cabinets with a splash of red.

* 2003 – NSA paid $17.5 million for the Black Widow computer which could run at hundreds of teraflops (trillions of flops) per second (perhaps 2×10 to the 14 power – 200,000,000,000,000 – floating point operations per second). The Black Widow was also known as a Cray XT5h and has 32,000 processors. It was installed at NSA Fort Meade in 2008.

* 2008 – A military super computer, Roadrunner, broke the petaflop limit (1×10 to the 15 power flops per second). Roadrunner was built by IBM at the Los Alamos National Laboratories in New Mexico. As of 2008, NSA had a Roadrunner on order. The computer uses 3 megawatts of power, about as much as a large shopping mall. Roadrunner does 1.026 quadrillion calculations per second.

* 2010 – NSA expects the Cray X-3, also known as Cascade, to break the petaflop barrier – more than one quadrillion calculations per second. The computer will cost more than $250 million.

* 2018 – NSA says that by 2018 it will need a computer that will run at exaflop speed (one quintillion calculations per second). To build this computer for NSA and the Department of Energy (DOE), a new computer research center was established in 2008, known as the institute for advanced Architecture run by Sandia Laboratories and Oak Ridge National Laboratories, Tennessee. Such a computer might require 100 megawatts of power, the output of an entire power plant. One challenge is to reduce the power requirements of such a computer.

A related program …

Total Information Awareness (TIA)

This is a project to collect data from public, private, and government databases, both domestic and foreign, including

* bookstore visits
* online purchases
* gas station usage
* web searches
* web sites visited
* parking receipts
* credit card purchases
* magazine subscriptions
* prescriptions filled
* emails sent and received
* bank transactions
* trips booked
* events attended
* stock transactions
* bank transactions
* foreign military secrets
* foreign diplomatic secrets
* events attended
* all other collectible information

I have my Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert in desktop implementations (charter member). I am fully immersed in cloud computing. We have already been doing cloud computing for a decade now with forests and domains. the term is really coined on a more central location opposed to having a partial cloud here and there (such as a file server and a blog/forum server).

As far as your quote goes: it doesn't matter if we were in a cloud situation or not. For example, if the polar flip were to happen; how would you clean your water? How would you mine the materials to do so? How would you refine the ore to hold the materials?

The closest thing to those answers would be in an encyclopedia, which the most recognized encyclopedia has been put out of print!

The western society has always been based on societal knowledge, not on an individuals or a single book of knowledge. We can be taken down a few steps in many ways; but if you are afraid of change, then we will never progress.
