REMEMBER THEM!
And REMEMBER your FAITH!

This is how the apostles died.

Matthew suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, killed by a sword wound.

Mark died in Alexandria, Egypt, after being dragged by horses through the streets until he was dead.

Luke was hanged by idolatrous priests on an olive tree in Greece as a result of his tremendous preaching to the lost.

John faced martyrdom when he was boiled in a huge basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution in Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered from death. John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison island of Patmos. He wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation on Patmos. The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve as Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey. He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully.

Peter was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die in the same way that Yahshua was crucified.

James the Just, the leader of the church in Jerusalem, was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Yahshua. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club. This was the same pinnacle where Jesus went to during his Temptation.

James the Greater, a son of Zebedee, was a fisherman by trade when Yahshua called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was ultimately beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian.

Bartholomew, also know as Nathanael, was a missionary to Asia. He witnessed to our Lord in present day Turkey. Bartholomew was martyred for his preaching in Armenia when he was flayed to death by a whip.

Andrew was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: "I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Yahshua hanging on it." He continued to preach to his tormentors for two days until he expired.

Thomas was stabbed with a spear (lance) in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the subcontinent.

Jude, the brother of Yahshua, was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Yahshua.

Matthias, the apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded.

Barnabas, one of the group of seventy disciples, wrote the Epistle of Barnabas. He preached throughout Italy and Cyprus. Barnabas was stoned to death at Salonica.

Paul was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero in Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment which allowed him to write his many epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire.

Obviously we need more churches! Not really...great post brother!
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

These men, claim to be with Jesus. So why voluntarily die in a horrific way, for someone who didn't exist?

This is good evidence, for the existence of Jesus Christ.

Because they DON'T FOLLOW JESUS.

"They are to be taught BY God"
"I take testimony from NO MAN"
"Worship God"
"Certify that God is truthful"

Don't be a hypocrite, don't lie, don't divorce....

There are good ones...a church we do maintenance on lets everyone in the community use its facilities.

lol, that's a really DEPRESSING post!!! Jeeez.

Yeah, I still meet these Christians who think I'm still "lost" because I don't go to church. My brother and sister, two despicable characters themselves, still think I'M the poor little lost lamb cuz I don't go to any of the local clique churches that preach drivel. Then when I quote scripture or discuss the Bible, they are like a deer in the headlights. Have no clue what I'm talking about.

We are living in the End Times when MOST churches are corrupt, but many Christians think going to church is a commandment from God and use that "do not forsake the assembling together (of the church)" quote to pound it into others. They are soooo mistaken.

and btw, the title of thread is an excellent point and speaks volumes about the churches themselves doesn't it?

And thanks, tho' depressing, for outlining the saints who died for God. Too bad more people don't put that much time and effort into a thread before posting!

Good Thread OP!

One is hard pressed to find a good church. Knowing first that we as followers are the Church.
We were not commissioned to gather inside of four walls and punch a clock on Sundays, or worse yet...the Christmas/Easter crowd.
I have worked with many inner-city churches trying to get them outside of those walls. Be an example in the community more than just knocking on doors trying to get more people inside those four walls.

Christians are a dime a dozen.
What we need now more than ever are disciples.
“If Noah’s flood really did occur, what would you expect to find? Billions of dead things, buried in rock layers, laid down by water, all over the earth.” And guess what we find? Billions of dead things, buried in rock layers, laid down by water, all over the earth.

I don't think building more churches is the answer. Stifling normal sexual urges TOO much probably leads to sexual depravity.
