Can it be the INTERSTELLAR CLOUD (Local Fluff) within the LOCAL BUBBLE is the ...DARK RIFT?

mayans galactic night & day are the times of oscilations of our solar system on its way around our galaxy, below and above the equator (we experience now the above rising - very large time span - small changes in perception, making big changes in mans behaviour = my hope)

but its a long run, so i try to live my highest ideal, as an example, it is the slowest method, but the most working one for better society

i think the DARK RIFT and INTERSTELLAR CLOUD is one and the same!

i've looked all over the web for a discussion on the topic, but there is none out there that relates the interstellar cloud with the dark rift.

the way i see it, the mayas view of the dark rift when the earth will be at the very center of the galactic plane on 12-21-12 is, simply put, human eyes looking at the bulge at the center of the milky way from AFAR. whereas, the interstellar cloud that is within the bigger local bubble is being closely monitored UP CLOSE by the voyager and IBEX satellites.

now, if i have to guess, i think the sun and the planets are entering the cosmic cloud in the direction of going through the center of the milky way, otherwise known as the galactic plane, or the "xibalba be" as the mayas knew it.

ANYONE THINK SO, TOO? when you think long and hard about it, it could be!

our system got here from the back of our galaxy above the center, but then it fixed the position and follows a round circle around the bulge, some 20000 ly from center, so we experience only up and downs BUT IN CHANGING environement of our galaxy.. and thats the wonder we will pass trough (local fluff as you say)

we're all looking too damn close with the voyager and IBEX satellites to recognize that it is the dark rift we have strayed into.

can it be coincidence that now is the time when the earth is aligned with the center of the galactic plane and here comes mainstream science discovering that we have encountered the 'local fluff' (sort of nickname for the interstellar cloud)?

Or when the center of the galactic plane or dark rift is supposed to be dangerous to get close to, and here comes the scientists telling us we're in for a tough, tumbling ride for the next thousands of years while we weather and manage to squeeze through thIS dense interstellar cloud.

...therefore, one may conclude that the INTERSTELLAR CLOUD IS WITHIN THE DARK RIFT THAT IS REFERRED TO BY THE MAYAS.

Actually according to the Voyager missions site at Nasa ( [link to voyager.jpl.nasa.gov] the Voyager 1 and 2 reached the outer heliosheath and began recording the data. I believe it is one of many plasma clouds withing the Galactic center.

OP, I have sort of had this idea in my head for a while but just haven't talked to about it publicly.

I believe you are right.

as i see it, the mayans were describing the dark rift which was afar. they described it as the navel of ...creation, i think.

now the russian scientist who discovered and studied it since decades ago called it by a different name and, later, references to it were made like the local bubble, local interstellar cloud or local fluff. scientific descriptions were given, we heard disturbing facts like a giant ribbon was detected by the IBEX satellite, or the solar system is entering a million-degree hot gas named the local bubble. we will be traversing this area for thousands of years...

wait a minute! don't some scientists say that the earth and rest of the solar system bob up and down the galactic plane in a cycle every thousands of years? and the scientists who study the galactic plane acknowledge it is the same DARK RIFT the mayans are also referring to?

there are scientists who generally acknowledge that the earth has entered the middle of the galactic plane in the late 70s and and by 2012 it will be sort of passing through the very center of the plane where some scientists, particularly those involved in the horizon project, say has a very strong energy emanating from the center of the milky way where we have a supermassive black hole (a scientific fact and not up for debate).

the mayans simply tell us what it is; today's scientists are giving us the science behind it including the details of what makes it dangerous.

i think, until now, the idea that the dark rift and the local fluff/local bubble is one and the same has never entered popular belief, whether as notion or dogma.

BY THE WAY, AS I'M WRITING THIS IN MY TIME ZONE ON SEPTEMBER 11 OR THE PROVERBIAL 9/11 DATE, i happen to glance on the android widget of my cellphone that features a mayan calendar doomsday countdown (i just find it fun to have a days, hours, minutes and seconds countdown).

WHAT DO YOU KNOW, ON THE 9/11 DATE IT ALSO HAPPENS TO BE THE START OF 100 DAYS COUNTDOWN BEFORE THE MAYAN CALENDAR RUNS OUT ON DECEMBER 21, 2012!

coincidence? no, i think not. 'seems more like intelligent design. but design of what and why 9/11 --i don't know.

again, about the mayan calendar, i use to think that it was some sort of time bomb that will explode as the countdown reaches 0 on december 21, 2012. it's just a calendar --nothing more. but like all calendars, it was supposed to mark the beginning of some yet unknown event.

that we determine what that unknown event is the clue to understanding the SIGNIFICANCE of the mayan calendar.

well, it just so happens that mayan scholars like john major jenkins point to an event on december 21, 2012 (plus/minus i guess) when the sun rises from the middle of the dark rift which it calls xibalba be, or the dark road.

...so is the mayan calendar drawing our attention to this dark rift which, in our time, may be the local bubble/local fluff/or local interstellar cloud "alliance?"

have the mayans long ago foresaw that our solar system will be entering "a blob of gas about ten light-years across, with a temperature of 6-7 thousands degrees kelvin (must mean it's so hot!)

again, at a time when the mayans say we're gonna be crossing the middle of the dark rift, here comes our scientists telling us they discovered this weird and disturbing part of the universe that we're inevitably drifting to.

then in recent years we've heard that the magnetosphere of the earth, our planet's natural force field, is weakening even breached that the sun belches CMEs that is hazardous to our planet; so does the heliosphere of the sun is also weakening that it's allowing deadly cosmic rays to enter our solar system. then, of course, deadly earthquakes have been also increasing in frequency and magnitudes.

all these are happening like all of a sudden and here we are now approaching a marker in human history --december 21, 2012 when the world as we know it will be destroyed in some sort of unknown manner that eludes theorists!

so it's not really about the mayan calendar. it's what the mayan calendar points to --THE DARK RIFT, which to us may be the local interstellar cloud within the local bubble.
