This was what I believed until I really started making phone calls and knocking on doors.

A lot of this is in my notes, but let's just say that I don't entirely buy that the people now claiming to be Heather, Josh, and Mike really are Heather, Josh, and Mike.

I spoke to "Heather Donahue" and "Mike Williams". "Joshua Leonard" is a bit difficult to access.

I'll give you the run-down:

1. All three had movie careers that exploded after the film. Before the film, there was virtually no trace of them.

2. Heather virtually admitted to me on the phone (after many conversations) that her real name wasn't "Heather Donahue" and that "you're on the right track" after I basically implied a giant conspiracy behind the whole thing.

3. Williams was always very defensive when I talked to him, and said in almost these exact words: "I'm an actor. If anyone ends up going down because of this, it's Ed, Dan, or the people at Haxan." This was in response to me presenting a lot of my research to him. So, he knows that people would "go down" (legally) if the truth were known.

I think that after the real footage was shot (1993), three young actor-hopefuls were hired by Haxan to change their names and impersonate the missing filmmakers in "public events" after the release of the movie. This would effectively kill all speculation that the film was real.

Ever read Harvey and Lee by John Armstrong? Intelligence agencies have a long history of using 'doubles' for covert purposes, as does Hollywood (stunt-doubles).

The conspiracy that I suggest behind the Blair Witch series would be one between elements of Hollywood and the military-intelligence apparatus. Thus, the idea that they would not consider using doubles in this case is ridiculous. This is their standard operating procedure.
