Two St. John Parish deputies were shot and killed while interviewing suspects in an earlier shooting of a deputy at the parking lot for contractors at Valero Energy.

Working on tips from a civilian and another officer, a vehicle similar to the suspect's was spotted and tracked to a trailer park.

Tregre said that deputies knocked at the door and had two people come outside for an interview about the shooting. He said at that time, a third suspect exited another door and shot the two officers to death in what he described as a 'ambush.'

I dunno about that...the green arrow is dead on a huge parking lot in the lat lon link...and there is a very large "Yard" or lot with an assload of refinery gear stored in it right behind that...no doubt there would be security at least minding that...millions of dollars worth of equiptment there easily...

maybe you aren't seeing the lat lon target and just seeing LaPLace?

So...What the fuck were Police guarding a Parking not for (or am I missing something here)- They sure as fuck do not guard stalking victims and others so why should tax money pay for a parking lot of a Private Corporation...

Sheriff Mike Tregre said the incident began when an officer at the parking lot was approached and shot several times by a suspect. That officer was taken to University Hospital and is in surgery but expected to survive, said Tregre.

Unrelated news no doubt, but I understand there is water contamination there.

I live in LaPlace. The Officers work a detail for the plant and direct traffic after shift changes (2x's per day). The parking lot in question is about roughly 5 miles from the plant. The contractors park there and then take a bus to the plant. The police stop traffic so they don't have to wait. So cops are there on a regular basis.

The entire river corridor is sketchy right now. The river is too low, for starters.

This happening at a refinery is what makes me nervous..

The Suspect had a car, but the trailer park was very close by...like within a few hundred feet...he "Approached" one officer and ambushed him, but then took off in a car?...came up in a car?...went to the tralier park right there? then fled on foot and they are searching for him now?...

The reports are very lose and sketchy...not a real clear picture...but if it was some cranked out methhead?...they don't think real clearly or act predictably...so who knows...but they had an AK it would seem...so they had/have some fire power if that is true...

In regards to the water situation, we had a broken main on Tuesday night and lost water pressure for a while. We are under a boil advisory now. This is the second time in about 2 weeks a main broke. I was starting to think if this had anything to do with the sinkhole which is a little less than 50 miles away.

How would they know how many suspects there were if the two witnesses are dead? They said they were ambushed. How would they know this. Something fishy here.
