Moving to The Netherlands, Tell Me What to Expect!

is it today national dutch day or what, all the dutch threads bumps.
o, its 5 december sinterklaas!

I LOVED my visit to the netherlands, Leiden a bit more than amsterdam. I mastered 1 phrase..."wat jammer" which seemed to work well in any dutch conversation i was stuck in the middle of. I was much inspired by the concept of the hofje and built my home here in that style. the people aren't what i call nice but they were very kind which is very comforting in my book. I am tall for an asian woman so it felt nice to feel tiny for a while. expect dutch treats, a heightened sense of propriety, no nonesense discussions about money and something i can only describe as "cold warm attitudes". the older folk struck me as a bit more wary and prejudiced but not more than any other older person anywhere else. It's a wonderful place worthy of much respect.

That nearly collapsed a couple of years ago, lol.

Yes it just opened in the summer
The roundabout was opened on June 29th, 2012 in an afternoon of festivities.

it is called Hovenring ... and sounds phonetically like "hovering" = to hover over
or a ring that levitates ...
funny coz we also have a UFO [the Evoluon, used for science expositions and business meetings] in Eindhoven.

Norway also has such a ring :
The Stavanger cycle ring with the exact same diameter (72 meters) as the Eindhoven ring.
