Re: DALLAS SKEETER DRILL FOR DOLLARS
Uhm, it's bug spray. Made out of the same thing they make flea collers out of. It is water soluable and sunlight degrades it quick. If you don't wash your garden plants off, it will taste the same as if you got it from Walmart.

Not sure what the big panic is all about, but I have no problem with my local government trying to remove mosquitos from existence. I have an outdoor pond. I will best most anyone that my goldfish are still alive in the morning.

/pre-mature doom.

I get it...for some people its just "bug spray" but for those of us who have serious chemical sensitivities/allergic reactions..it could mean death.

I am allergic to so many chemicals that its frightening. I've been to the swirling tunnel after they called a code blue on me in the hospital because of a reaction to the metabisulfite preservative added to a medication.

If you have ever laid in a hospital bed and heard the doctor say..60 over 40 and then...we cant get a pulse you would be worried about stuff they are spraying in the air too.

Be thankful that you have a strong constitution and that chemicals do not affect your health! There are some of us that worry about the spraying for a reason.

Re: DALLAS SKEETER DRILL FOR DOLLARS
FYI

What are the symptoms of exposure to Duet Dual-Action® ?

Symptoms of over-exposure can include irritation to skin and eyes, respiratory and nasal irritation, irritability to sound or touch, abnormal facial sensation, sensation of prickling, tingling or creeping of skin, numbness, headache, dizziness, nausaea, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive salivation, and
fatigue. The chance of experiencing these symptoms of over-exposure with proper use is low.

(WOW sounds worse than getting the virus...for those of us who are chemical sensitive!!!!!!)

How long will Duet Dual-Action® last in the environment?

Pyrethroids have a soil half-life of 12 days. They have an extremely low pesticide movement rating because they bind tightly to the soil. Pyrethroids are unstable in light and air. They rapidly degrade in sunlight at the soilsurface and in water. Piperonyl butoxide has a soil half-life of approximately 4 days.

ok. So post tomorrow if you are dying. Bet you don't.

They are not spraying over me tonight..unless the wind blows in my direction, but you can bet I will be calling my mayor in the morning to go on record opposing spraying in my area.

This is understandable, and appreciate the kind reply. But if you know it is comming, why not simply go a few hundred miles in any direction, for a bit, then come back after 12 hours to quote an earlier post.

Keep yourself alive. It's not that hard. But the idea of going out on the porch at night and not being swarmed by the bugs works for me. Or just go inside, change the air conditioner filter after an hour, and continue.

"Dallas – Due to the spread of the West Nile Virus and high infection rates, aerial spraying will begin tonight in Dallas County. In the City of Dallas aerial spraying will be conducted from 10pm – approximately 1am, and cover the area bounded by Interstate 635 to the north and east, the Dallas North Tollway to the west and Interstate 30 to the south."

Yeah this is the shit that got the Incredible Shrinking Man, shrinking.

Thank you for being kind and understanding too. But the half life of the chemicals being sprayed is 12 DAYS not 12 hours.

I sit outside every night with no problems. I have a bug zapper, ceiling fans, and a water misting system around my patio. I do not need them to spray chemicals on me to keep the bugs away, I do an excellent job myself.

Honestly, I would rather take my chances of getting bit and developing immunities to WNV than have the government attempt to take care of me.

Lets face it....We are all going to die of something. If I had a choice, I would rather die of "natural causes" like being bit by a mosquito or falling off a horse in the middle of nowhere and getting eaten by wild pigs rather than letting the government do me in with poison...Just sayin!

I'm just so tired of the government "taking care of people." How about we accept some responsibility for our own lives, take care of ourselves and the strongest will survive!!!

If you don't want to get bit by a mosquito stay inside at feeding time or take personal precautions if you need/want to be outside. They do not need to spray us with poison.

And while I'm on my soap box I want to add....

How the heck did the human race make it this far without government intervention.

According to the talking heads... don't eat this, don't drink that, everything causes cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction, get your flu shots and immunizations...bla bla bla.... be afraid, very afraid of everything..but don't worry we will take care of you.

I'm waiting for TPTB to issue a statement that says..."Warning..do not eat apples because they are hazardous to your health..look what eating an apple did to Adam!"

Whatever...I'm over this! Spray me if you want. If I have a reaction and die, my family can sue Clarke and hopefully my children can collect enough money from my death to pay back their college loans and give me a decent burial. Spray on.....

Hah, as much as I disagree with you, I also agree. I see this as one of the few times that government is useful. They have the resources to wipe out a bug that bothers me beyond belief. I honestly don't care if other species die because they have no mosquitos to eat. Granted, this is a good short term answer, but in the long term, the bugs will be back, not the birds.

I usually won't go outside if I can't see the sun, simply because of the mosquitos. If you are from around Dallas, you know what I mean.

I hope you get through this OK, and did you move to Austin, or was that someone else?

Re: DALLAS SKEETER DRILL FOR DOLLARS
Down here in Southeast Louisiana chemtrailing has knocked out the lightning bug.

Shame.

Mosquitoes? We still have 5 strains, the tiger the most likely to carry WNV.

They'd have to have a continual spray program overhead to make a real dent.

Which would have effects the locals just would not put up with.

But.... maybe they would. The seem oblivious to the loss of the fireflies.
