There always seems to be a sulfur or methane smell around the time of earthquakes. Also the sea's have been known to turn yellow. This is indicitive of sulfur. Sulfur is yellow and disolves easily in water.Sulfur smells like rotten eggs and can foul the water though you can still drink it even if it smells.
