Did his 'long history' not with just the city, but also the county involve knife throwing which led the 6 officers to believe that shooting at his legs from 10 yards would have been ineffective? He had been arguing with officers in a parking lot next to a shuttered Chinese restaurant when he was shot, in full view of passing motorists and while he was holding some sort of knife. Saginaw County Prosecutor Michael Thomas said later that the squad of police confronting him opened fire "because apparently, at this point in time, he was threatening to assault police." Thomas' office and the Michigan State Police are investigating Hall's death. Saginaw Police Chief Gerald Cliff said Hall was "known to be an assaultive person" with "a long history" of contacts with law enforcement, "not only with police from our department but with the county. Anytime the police shoot someone down, the media does their best to justify the actions of the police by painting the deceased as criminal scum that deserved the 65 bullets to the face. It's a standard operating procedure. It would be funny sometimes if it wasn't so sad. Saw a guy with a few driving infractions (parking, speeding, reckless driving) referred to as a life long criminal after he was gunned down. |
