When I needed clothes, my mother would drive to White Front or Zodys.
I lived in the San Fernando Valley.
I'd get two pair of white canvas sneakers for $.49ea. (1 for gym class the other for regular)
A winter coat made from cheap poly fabric. "Dog Coats" we called them.
Cheap go-go boots made from vinyl.
Ugly dresses (girls were REQUIRED to wear dresses until 1970) that were only a few dollars each.
The dresses had waistlines & tied bows in the back.

I got a spiral bound notebook, PeeChee Folder and a blue cloth-type 3 ring folder.

My mom might have spent a whopping 20 bucks on my entire Back to School wardrobe etc.
If that.
I graduated high school in '71.
That year was the first year girls could wear "slacks" to school.
