HSBC employee here. We're not all bad. At least we didn't launder money for the Iranians like Standard Charter!
HSBC is made up of a ton of acquired banks. HSBC Mexico literally has nothing to do with the rest of the company.
But yeah, still not good.

The HSBC may have washed its history books so that ignorant staff never wise up, but the fact remains that some of the biggest UK and EU power families used their profits from the opium days to establish what became HSBC. Successful criminals of a century ago, literally HAD to create their own banks to process their profits - the HSBC is one of the survivors of that period and process.
