WHY THE HELL DO NUCLEAR PLANTS HAVE COMPUTERS HOOKED UP TO THE NET??????? Quoting: SwampRatLost [link to www.bbc.com] Shamoon virus targets energy sector infrastructure Saudi Aramco plant in Saudi Arabia Saudi Aramco is Saudi Arabia's national oil provider A new threat targeting infrastructure in the energy industry has been uncovered by security specialists. "It is a destructive malware that corrupts files on a compromised computer and overwrites the MBR (Master Boot Record) in an effort to render a computer unusable," wrote security firm Symantec. [link to www.theregister.co.uk] The Shamoon software carries out a two stage attack, according to an analysis by Israeli security firm Seculert. Once a system on a network is infected, the code scrapes data from other systems via network shares, including those not connected to the internet. It then wipes all the data on the target systems and overwrites the master boot record to brick the system. Why would these companies who provide such important infrastructure services, even be linked up to the net??? GET THE FUCKING COMPUTERS OFFLINE FOLKS!!!!!! Really? If they need company emails and communication hooked up to the net, then have a designated group of computers for that. Why the hell have the computers that run the entire damn system online??? In fact, a computer that isn't online is just as vulnerable to a virus, given how the user would be far more inclined to bring personal data in on external media. Just plug in a usb drive that's contaminated with stuxnet or this new shamoon virus, and it'll spread through the entire buildings network like wildfire. It was totally worth bringing porn in to work though, right? |

That's how Stuxnet spread in Iran. Thumb drives. Thumb up their ass. That's why if you really care about security, you epoxy every single free USB port on the computer before letting the workers use them. |

WHY THE HELL DO NUCLEAR PLANTS HAVE COMPUTERS HOOKED UP TO THE NET??????? Quoting: SwampRatLost They do not need to be hooked up to the net. Versions of stuxnet and other virus' now infiltrate usb cards, sd cards, burned cds/dvds etc etc. Basically when any type of memory media is detected on an infected PC it is queued up to be written as soon as any file is transferred and then any computer that downloads any files from the infected memory media it is transfered and starts its magic. Crazy eh? edit: Someone beat me to it... I should've read the replies before posting :P Last Edited by strategicdiscernment on 08/18/2012 09:13 PM “It would never come into their heads to fabricate such colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there must be some other explanation.” -Adolf Hitler 1925 ___________ Thread: Understanding our SOVEREIGNTY & REPUBLIC <--- Must watch [2 videos] ___________ “The principle object of their directorate consists in this: To debilitate the public mind by criticism; To lead it away from serious reflections calculated to arouse resistance; To distract the forces of the mind towards a sham fight of empty eloquence.” -The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion |

Davis Besse has to conform and change some things or their permit won't be renewed. It has a crack in it that they "sealed". It's a 30 yr. old crack. It also leaks into the lake. It has a long history of putting money ahead of lives. I hope they all shut down........safely. |
