Quoting: Bluebird This is going to make us all fold when the price of electricity doubles! Bluebird, you are too much of a sunshiny optimist. 42% of our electricity is from coal. Think India, think "blackout". The problem isn't that it will be expensive but that it will unavailable. You can have electricity or you can have an Obama reelection. He's permitted a few new nukes. That seems to be the idea, our baseload is served by nukes rather than coal. The coal plants are deemed too dirty, the nuke plants that create Fukushima risk are not. I hate Obama with his anti-coal crap. I've looked at it and the numbers are very interesting. The radioactivity from gas is higher than anything. Both gas and coal plants release as much radioactivity as a nuclear plant. We need vastly more baseload power generation if we are going to transition to electric vehicles. We should be drilling and mining. Virtually all new energy technologies use rare earths. We need to shoot some environmentalists and put the EPA out to pasture so we can build things in this country instead of importing them from China. Long term we won't be using coal and oil but we might as well rape the planet to keep energy costs low until we get enough nuclear power generation (preferably the LFTR type) in the ground. Quoting: s. d. butler drama queen... Sorry guy I have direct experience. If the best you can do is call me a name.... What kind of tax parasite are you by the way? We have tolerated environmentalists and the EPA long enough. Environmentalists should have to pay companies to reduce emissions. The EPA outlived its usefulness in the 1990s and should be put down. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 8260452 11/12/2012 12:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Didn't the Obama administration give one of the huge oil companies a waiver to continue drilling in the gulf? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8260452 Obama plays favorites worse than anyone I've ever seen. Yup I was right. It was numerous waivers at that. But none for the small guys I'm sure.
