Why does it kick in for UNDER 55 year olds. If its so Grand why not just make it immediate for current recipients too?

Is it because the current Medicare system is BETTER than the Romney/Ryan Plan?

Well?

I know its impossible for them to fathom but the Baby Boomer glut is going to eventually end because the Baby Boomers are all going to eventually die.

You can't run the numbers as if they are going to be collecting Medicare indefinitely because they won't

When you factor in New American immigrants and home grown Americans with the death of the Baby Boomers as the die out Medicare will remain solvent and will actually see surplus.

The majority of baby boomers won't even hit the medicare rolls for another 5 years. It is going to take at least 3 decades for even a large number of them to "die off", and with people living longer it may take even longer than that.

I know it is impossible for you to understand, because you refuse to believe it, but new immigrants and newborns combined won't even come close to making up for this and we financially won't make it 30 years to wait for the boomers to die off in sufficient numbers.

Defense spending should be halved almost immediately, but that won't happen, not even Obama will do that. In fact he has increased defense spending an average of 20% annualized since he has become president, which is more than any president since I have been alive.

So keep believing what you want, but I have the facts and I won't let you just make shit up without putting you in check.

Oh, and btw I am for the passage of the dream act because I believe it is morally right and I also think the work ethic of Mexican Americans is something this country desperately needs.

However, don't lie and try to convolute the issue by making a false claim that the Dream Act will someone help shrink the deficit...

Those over 55 have been paying in their whole lives and could not opt out, could not invest the money. They were told they HAD to do what the government said so the paid in and were promised that the money would be there when they retired.

But people under 55 haven't been locked in for so long. They will be given the freedom to invest or to stay in the government program where the money is taken and used for other things like funding abortions.

So the difference is that those under 55 will be given a choice and hopefully will have enough time to invest or what ever so that the money will be there when they need it. Those over 55 don't any time left and they never got a choice.

Its not 'better'. Its just more sustainable.

However it is better for two groups: the young and the old. It is terrible for the people stuck in the middle.

It is better for the young because if they plan properly, they will be able to cheaply buy into a plan that will cover them into old age. It is better for the old because they will continue to have the government give them healthcare.

The people in the middle would be pretty fucked.

The "death panels" will weed people out who are not worth spending the money on by the standards the panels operate.

Insurance companies have panels that decide what is worthy of being covered, they will even come to your hospital bed and ask you if you really need to be hospitalized, WHILE YOU ARE IN THE BED.

All your spookism is bullshit. Americans aren't giving control of healthcare back to insurance companies, period.
