i went with trail mix only because i felt i had a easily available substitute for all of that stuff or could make do without it.

oh and for the record electrical tape is a better product than duct tape for most purposes.

Go do it for a week, no water is 100% pure and all of it has microbs that can easily mess you up. Being that far north your water would be cleaner however, I live in the south so I get a lot of nasty run off from all the people up north.

Never EVER risk your water especially when a hospital isn't a option.

I've gone camping up north in -40 and studied enough survival info to know what to do if I emerged alive from a nuclear apocalypse.

1) Shelter - since I survived, I assume I have already found shelter underground. I may need to gather materials to feather my nest for warmth.
2) Water - radiation poisoning of my body, air, food and water would concern me more than bacteria. I would go to a river with a clay bed to detox myself and water--radiation is water soluble. Water can be filtered through rocks, sand, & charcoal.
3) Food - I know how to build snares and string creeks to catch fish. I would need to find fabric and/or wire to create the snares. I would dig underground for worms/bugs to eat and gather whatever edible plant life I could.
4) Fire - I know many ways to make fire which I would use to boil water, cook food and keep warm.
5) Weapons - bow & arrows would be my choice for my survival in the short term; inevitably, I would need to find a group of people for long-term survival.

I've done a lot of thinking about this even though I suspect I will likely be one the first ones they round up and execute before the war. I wanted to be prepared for all contingencies.

Though all of the items on that list have degrees of usefulness, I realized if a band of survivors ever encountered me, they would likely take whatever I had and kill me unless I could offer something they couldn't take--my intelligence and survival skills. I also know First Aid & CPR.

If I had to take one item on that list, it would be the super-glue so that after I made a comfortable nest for myself and had a full belly, I could snort some glue and get high enough to forget that I am living in hell.

I already have several lighters!!!! However, I would love to have clorox bleach because I know I would run out. I voted for trail mix though because I thought I might need food.

Trail mix, - without a doubt.

That's the only nutrition item on the list.

With an unlimited supply, you would be the King of the Barter world, no?

Everyone needs it, and it could be traded for any other item on this list indefinitely.

No, I have thought though that a cigarette dealer would be valuable, you would have to have the ultimate "big stash". So probably you could trade and get food in exchange. There has to be a way...it's good you are bringing the subject up. I am a double libra. My decisions take time or they are not right. I know this. I'll let you know.

It probably has to do with the idea of prepping itself. It's complicated. I wish someone would write prepping for dummies or better yet...the minimal prep....

Yes, that is easy . . . act as though you were going to camp out for two to four weeks without food and essentials except for what you take with you . . . them use common sense . . . no one knows where they will be when something could happen so . . . common sense and a will to survive are the best things to own . . .

Doesn't your poll omit the most important things of all? Food and water.

From your list, though, I want the Bic Lighter and a pack of cigarettes! If I have to do without other things, I want a smoke!
