I thought I knew weird until Preston Nichols claimed that Scott McKenzie's biggest song, If You're Going to San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair) was actually performed by Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and his brother Chuck (who isn't listed as a brother of his on Wiki) at recording studios in Montauk, NY. McKenzie never sang it live. It's actually a really cool book, interesting at the very least.

A very interesting read, but I simply don't buy the claim that Chuck Hamill sang lead on the "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)" record.

If you watch the first video in this thread (filmed at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967), it's obviously Scott McKenzie singing the song in front of an audience, and his voice is identical to the voice singing on the record.

I'll check it out. He apparently lip sang it. But I could be wrong, I'll watch the vid when I'm not at work.

Just read up on that Laurel Canyon a little. Pretty interesting. Since this is based in Montauk though, don't think they are related. But I'm gonna keep reading. Zappa? Who knew? Ha!
