She then wouldn't see us all day. Quoting: Aunty Flo I think it's been that way for most of human history. We did not hide in our homes in fear even during times of war. This whole thing, this child worship thing, this for the saftey of the children thing, this - "the state has a vested interest" thing, it is the undoing of America. President Ford warned us - but we still ignore the cause today. And we will ignore it tomorrow. Women and Men were estranged for this reason.. When he was forced to sigh the law into being - he voiced his belief that he was allowing the government to intrude into the bedrooms and families of Americans... he was right. I wager not one person here can name that law... |

Besides, the "field adjacent to" the OP's house is obviously not the OP's property. The children were on someone else's property, and the police officer had every right to ask them what they were doing there. For all we know, the owner of the field may have complained about trespassers. dear God, did you really just say that children playing in the open field are trespassers? Really. What world did you grow up in. Certainly not the one I grew up in, that I am 100% sure of. My curfew was the porch light. My parents called my name, not my cell. I played outside with friends, not online. And we were allowed out to play without our parents being there. We were even allowed out of their sight from morning till night. If I didn't eat what was cooked for dinner, then I didn't eat. Sanitizer didn't exist, but you COULD get your mouth washed out with soap. I rode a bike without a helmet, Getting dirty was ok, and Neighbors LOVED YOU as much as your parents did....and they showed it by reprimanding you just like they would. You didn't want to go home if you knew the teacher was going to call because your parents were going to punish you much worse than what the school could do. And there were no explanations or excuses. And we drank water from a garden hose and survived OP here...this and more ten fold! this is how i grew up as well. and one last thing.. if a teen got out of line or in trouble the the police.... they would take them home...to the parents.... let me tell you that was always worse. This is all so true. The power in this Country is now in the hands of a bunch of psychopaths and thugs, who can't help themselves from interFEARing on good honest people. They have too and want too control every single faction of our lives. Good thing this is a free Country. We should all be ashamed of ourselves for what we have let happen. They just keep backing people farther and farther into the corner. |

Quoting: goodmockingbird For all we know, the owner of the field may have complained about trespassers. that is fucked up; kids were playing. when i was a kid, we made working longbows and crossbows, and practiced them in whatever field we fancied. I used to do this too. this was about 18 years ago though... When I was a kid on any given summer day we would rove around several adjacent neighborhoods in a pack of 4 or 5 kids on our bikes (sting rays with banana seats). We'd start in the morning and go from one person's house to the next to the next and so on. One kid had a pool, another had a trampoline, another had the Twister game, I had a garden hose, a Slip and Slide, and grass, someone else had a basketball hoop above their garage, and another's mother would make us koolaid without fail whenever we visited. When we's get bored we'd just hop back on our bikes and head into one of several expanses of desert that surrounded the neighborhoods and do a little more work on one of our our forts. We'd nail foot boards up the trunk of the biggest mesquite tree or gather old plank boards from the stray garbage here and there and build a seat up in the crux of the tree for a look-out. At about this time we'd run into the other pack of kids that ran the same neighborhoods and engage in a bit of "I can do whatever you say better than you" talk. Then we'd all hop back on our bikes and try to pedal the fastest up to the Circle K convenience store on the corner to get a red and yellow bullet popsicle, a fugsicle, or a cherry icee. We'd pay with money from our allowance that was earned doing household chores like weeding, babysitting, washing the car, or cutting the grass. It always felt just great to have ALL DAY to spend with our friends, living large, in the neighborhood. After all, we didn't HAVE to be home until dinner time which strangely enough was 6 p.m. at everyone's house. Our parents were never worried about us one bit. When we'd get home, all they wanted to know is what we had ended up doing that day and did we have a good time. Then, after dinner, more often than not, back we'd go outside to play again with our friends in one person's driveway or carport or the street. We'd play until dusk set in and the streetlights came on (which could be as late as 9:30 or 10:00 p.m.) WHAT HAPPENED TO CHANGE ALL THAT? |

What a total mess this is turning into. Everything is turning to predetermined crap. I sure do hope the Mayan's were right about this coming change. Legal liability. If the kids get hurt on someone else's property, the property owner will get sued for the expenses. Most property owners do not want kids playing on their property for that reason. Nothing against the kids having fun. It's just too much of a financial risk to let happen. Go away "good mocking bird" You have your ideologies twisted if you think youre doing good. It's not an ideology, that's a cold0hearted reality of the world we live in today. When people can win multi-million dollar lawsuits for spilling coffee on themselves. Or for another example, breaking into a house through a skylight then suing the owners of the house the assailant broke into and intended to rob because the thief fell on a knife in the process. It's the lawyers and bureaucrats that have fucked all that up. |

Today, frivioulous lawsuits changed all this and this is a major reason why people act this way. If a kid gets hurt on that property, THEY WILL SUE THE OWNER. The whole system of suing anyone is way out of hand, which is why people no longer help eachother, but look out for themselves in fear of being sued. |

CRACK filled. either way fear has been re-install in that neighborhood. and all the other neighbors now know to keep up the fear too! for us older ones...we can look back on our youthful days and not know what changed. why does my son not get to have those fun days of summer riding free and brave!....why must he cower in fear behind locked doors. you go out side and see all your neighbors....you might even know there names...but that is as far as those relationship are allowed to go... the fear, the fear....yes sadly the fear will always slips in. a good video editor can make anyone say anything the editor wants. |
