I agree with OP. Lots of pain, everyone going to basic pverty levels... but no collapse. The people who benefited from this will not allow it. Do you really think they are going down with the boat? Its not like they can eject to another planet... everyone will feel the pain, but those on the lower rungs of the socio-economic ladder will feel it even more...
