Because we are also given wisdom to protect ourselves. God NEVER said He would protect us from the evils of this world. In fact many, many Christians have died for their beliefs. I would absolutely die for God if I had to, but I'm not going to be stupid and make it easy for them to take my life. The would just be ignorant.
