Remember the 13 thread about the lack of doom being because of the wild card? Doom feeds him. This is why they had to stop. So, if they want him to have more, they will do more.
But there's nothing they can do to stop it, aside from killing him which would compound their problems 10 fold 100 fold.
Maybe it's just to be a presence, a guide. Let everyone know they're making the right steps.
