Why am I always attacked when I astral project?

I used to project like 2 times a week or so last year.But everytime I did I would run into something creepy.Like one time I saw this little girl in my room or the time I saw a face on my wall that was talking to me.Or the time I saw these two beings who were in the room where my parents would be and they too talked to me.

But If I wasn't being spoken to,I was being attacked.Once I was walking around my block(in the astral) and these two shadow beings jumped onto me and started attacking me,I tried to fight back but I lost.And another time I go into another altercation with this blue monster/demon thing with red eyes and I zoned out of consciouness 5 seconds into the fight so I have no idea what happened in the end?

Why am I always being attacked,how can I learn to defend myself in the astral? Oh and how can I keep conscious while there everytime I project I always lose consciousness and find myself back in my physical body?
