The "FLASHING LIGHTS" Phenomenon People Are Reporting - Remember High Level Static Discharge From Movie "The Core"

Earlier today a thread was pinned about people all over the United States and Europe seeing these flashes of light in the atmosphere in the absence of any thunder or lightning, with no reported storms in the area. This is the thread that was pinned earlier today:

Then, some of you posted some videos of these flashes within that thread. The best video was a video taken in Yonkers on 8/15 that is posted on youtube, showing these purple flashes in the sky with no thunder or any sounds. Here is that video:

In the movie "THE CORE" there is a scene where Rome is destroyed by lightning superstorms as a result of high-level static discharge. Here is that clip:

You'll notice in that clip that there are some bright flashes in the sky and then Rome is destroyed by a "lightning superstorm." But in the movie "THE CORE," right before the scene featured in that Youtube clip that I've posted up above, Aaron Eckhart is walking outside with the other scientists and looks up at the sky and you see these flashes of light that are very similar to the flashes of light that people are describing here on GLP and are similar to that video in Yonkers. Eckhart looks up at the sky and sees these flashes of light and says "That's high-level static discharge" and then you start seeing the lightning superstorms and Rome gets destroyed.

Forgive me, for I am not a geophysicist nor an astrophysicist, I am just a simple man who is not interested in these matters and I do not know what high-level static discharge is, but I do come on GLP sometimes to read about what's going on. But when I saw you guys posting your observations this morning about all these flashes of light in the sky over the past two weeks, then I saw that youtube video from Yonkers which I've posted up above, then I talked to some of my co-workers and they said they had noticed it recently, it suddenly just popped into my head and I thought back to that scene in "THE CORE" where these flashes of light start popping up all over the world in the sky and Eckhart notices it and says "that's high-level static discharge" and he sees these flashes of light in the sky, followed by strong lightning bolts and then Rome gets destroyed in that clip I posted above.
