Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
I haven't died in a dream but as a kid at least 2 times I dreamed that I was falling and then right away I woke up because I had fallen off of the bed.

Dreams that are as real as real life making you question if your daily life was a dream. Has anyone had that kind of dream? It was the most upsetting dream I have had.

yes. for example i had male roomates and crushed on one. I had such an intense dream about him when i woke up i thought i really had sleep walked and done the things in my dream....

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
I have died dozens of time, and i have felt the soul leave they body and everything was okay.
Most of the time i can fly away if im in danger.

But i do believe, that you can have a heart attack if you are very very scared/ if you have clogged arteries, thats not gonna help either. Maybe thats why people die in their sleep?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward

those of us with no fear of death have no problem with dying in the dream.

the only time i got scared was when i went through a portal and ended up with a "scientist"... he wanted to put me through a machine where i would loose my body. i screamed at him that i was still attached to it and panicked. i wish i would have been ready to let go, i'm so curious what i missed out on experiencing.
 Quoting: seer

do you think that is why i saw nothing? I to my concious knowledge have no fear of dying.. My human shackles fear HOW i die. I dont want to be tortured if you know what i mean
 Quoting: Qarley

i think the seeing of nothing should wake you up a little- learn to expand your consciousness out side of the body.....

I have died a few times in my dreams. I'm usually shot. When it happens I don't feel anything painful, just a feeling like my breath is knocked out of me and I feel the snap of the bullet through my body (it feels like an electric shock). The strangest thing is my thought while I'm dying is "wow, that's it?" like its anti-climatic. I feel a sense of calm and then wake up.

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
Yes, I climbed a tall mountain with a tall black man driving me in a white van. When we got to the top..I told him to watch over my family and take care of them when I was gone. Then I let go, and fell backwards off the mountain till I hit the hard ground which felt just like pavement. I woke and found myself laying in the street and there were flashing medic lights everywhere. I could only see people from the knees down. Then I heard one of the medics say, "Yes, its a 1079. and then he zips me up in the bag.

Then I see myself from above, and then I see myself kicking like crazy inside the bag....and I wake up

The lack of gravity is noticable in those dreams. I know that I am not afraid of dying because of those dreams. After watching my father slowly die of brain cancer after a 2 day coma I realize how important the peace at the end really is. But I believe he left that body when he fell into the coma, or was deep in his dream world preparing to leave.

I suspect that dying is just like staying in that dream world and not "waking up," which honestly would be wonderful.

Really? Here is my experience with seeing myself dead in a dream...
I dreamt I saw myself being buried. I was walking along and noticed what appeared to be a wretched human burying his beloved friend with his bare hands for he did so with reverence in this solemn duty. As I passed and looked down upon the deceased's face I was shocked to see it was me. I then awoke and realized it was a metaphor for me dying and burying my past life, so I can get on with my new life.

Guess I'm a liar then. hf

I have had a dream in which i died. I wont describe all of the dream but i was shot in the chest and gasped my last breath. Everything went dark for like 10 seconds. when i awoke i wasnt breathing. Just curious if others have had similar experiences because "they" say you cant die in dreams.
 Quoting: Qarley

Get checked for sleep apena. I dreamed one day I was running around trying to breath. I woke up gasping for air. One day I told my doctor about my dream, and how I woke up. He got me tested for apnea. I stoped breathing in my sleep 53 times on my back. And 18 times when I was on my side. It's just not fat people. anyone who has a turkey neck. are loud snorers or have apnea. because the soft tissue in the back of your throat relaxes during sleep, causing a blockage of the airway (as well as loud snoring).

I also have a sense that this has happened to me before (dying) but I have "forgotten" somehow. There is familiarity about that weightless, calm feeling. I would like to know about my past lives someday, because I have always felt that there is some bleed through from those lives into this one.

In my dreams when I die, I am usually being chased but it is not in the present time. It is either in the mid 1800's or the 1920's. In the 20's dream I am with an exploration party in some far off jungle being chased and shot by an unknown group. In the 1800's dream I am a mother and wife and accidently shot myself alone in my barn. That dream bothers me when I awake because I am worried about my children finding my body in the barn. In this life I have no children.

Its strange how the brain works, but I have always had very lucid dreams. I dream every night and typically remember them very clearly the following evening for some odd reason.

I agree with the fact that a person's experience is dictated by their beliefs, but I do believe there is a great mystery of conscousness that reveals itself only once the body has died. There are many beliefs, but one universal truth, but we get glimpses of that truth if we pay attention with an open mind.

Yes , most recently in fact, I was shot in a dream and knew I was in the prices of dying, total awareness. I was not afraid , just sad that I had to leave this plane of existence but altogether a knowing it was not the end, just a shift in perspective.

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
Years ago I had a dream of dying. I was parked in my car with the door open in front of my duplex. A man came up from behind and stabbed me in the heart. I slumped over the wheel and my spirit raised out of my body through the roof of the car...looking back at my lifeless body. I floated into my house, then around, not knowing what to do exactly and then woke up.

Oddly enough, the next day (in real life)...I had an appointment with a deep tissue masseuse. As she began she said, "oh, you look too young to have had heart surgery". I asked why she said that. She said because of the scar on my chest. I have never to this day seen anything that looked like a scar on my chest.

I died in my dream once , I recollect an encounter with a beautiful bright light , I was in a paradise like scenario a lot of nature and beautiful unknown colors around me , there was peace and a lot of love surrounding me when I tried to go further into that paradise that beautiful light which I knew it was god called me by my name and i knew it was him, he embrace me and told me to go back it was not my time to be there, also i remember an electric fence that did not allowed me to go further , I then looked at the ocean there was a huge boat with a crowd of people waving at me departing, I then got ordered back to earth almost as in a command and I got back against my will as I wanted to stay there , I felt it was home, my true home , there was also two questions asked while there what have I done in life ? and describe happiness ...I then got back while getting back I awoken , I was very depressed about getting back to earth and got into a depressive mood for a couple of days , that's all recall from that death dream experience, which it felt so real to me that feeling is indescribable words cannot convey

i have considered that. but i also suffered from sleep parlysis at that time so i chalked it up to that

How did you find out that you have sleep parlysis? Did you go to a sleep clinic and spend the night there being monitered?

no. and i will give you i am 99 percent sure. I did research and learned it usually only occurs for a short period of your life. i had about 5 other episodes that i remember not associated with dreams that fit the description.

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
I've fallen to death in dreams before, it was really crazy cause I could feel that stomach dropping feeling. I never hit bottom...just kept falling until the feeling of falling woke me up.

Only been shot in a dream a few times, felt some sort of pain, then wake up sweating.

Attacked by animals, but never killed. Always weirded me out though, cause I could feel the animal's breathe, and heat from their mouth on me while biting me.

I also used to have sleep paralysis...now those episodes were VIVID. I still haven't gotten a straight answer about it either...everything is all "theories".

I do believe there is a great mystery of conscousness that reveals itself only once the body has died.

this is true. it is because the mind in the physical form cannot contain the vastness of this consciousness/truth.
