I do believe there is a great mystery of conscousness that reveals itself only once the body has died.
 Quoting: KungPowMeowMeow

this is true. it is because the mind in the physical form cannot contain the vastness of this consciousness/truth.

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
I have seen me die or supposed to die numerous times, from being stabbed, to being shot, to a plane crash, up to a full blown nuclear explosion.

Every time I felt nothing. I can't believe some of you actually feel pain in dreams. I don't remember ever feeling any sensation. Some times I am ghost like in dreams, like things go through me or I see things as if they are not solid matter.

I also never fear any dreams. Occasionally I do have the creepy ones, but I don't actually fear.

I've also had very strange dreams that stay in my mind and never forget. One particular one was an old friend with a blurred face and me sitting on a bench when another man comes along and shoots him. A few weeks later I got news that an old friend of mine got shot and killed.

Dreams are very, very fascinating. I think it's much more than just "junk of daily life" being recycled as some scientists believe.

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
Not that I can think of but once years ago, I woke up before I did die. This demon was stabbing me in the chest in a dream. And Ive heard that if you do die in a dream, your body shuts down and you actually do die. Pretty sure thats not true though.

it cant be. i did die, but when i awoke i wasnt breathing. i was gasping but not taking in air. took a few seconds to get a breath. ive learned since then i was experiencing sleep paralysis. which could be why i wasnt breathing...

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
I remember more than one previous life, but I recall vividly how I died in my last life. I was beaten by a ball bat and abused sexually by a group of men. I recall the color of their truck, how I was walking home and the truck stopped and men got out of the back of the truck and also the pickup cab. It was a horrible way to die. I still have nightmares about it. I must have been about 19. I remember more than that about my life before, but that memory sticks in my head the most. I remembered peices of my different lives mostly after age four, and when I got old enough to keep a journal I would write down my dreams. That helped me remember my past live dreams. Keep a notebook by your bed and write down anything you remember when you wake up. It does help. You quickly forget your dreams if you don't write them down.

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
Yes...1000's of times....in almost every conceivable way. Sometimes stop breathing but trained myself years ago to recognize the dream state. Once recognized, you can turn your dreams around and start having fun....like lucid dreaming.

Several times I dreamt of a number combination and it took years to have the dream where I could actually wake up and remember the numbers. Wrote them down and thought about it for weeks till I was almost 90% sure they were numbers to my High School locker (class of 1984).

Memorized the combination and months later got into a lucid dream sequence where in my dream I went to my Hisgh School deliberately and floated up to my locker. Tried the memorized numbers and POP opened the locker up. Now 99.9% sure those are the numbers to the combination.

All I have to do to me 100% sure is ask the Hich School if I can visit and try it in real life.

You can do some amazing things once you find a way to control your dreams. It doesn't always happen and the other trick is to remember them. To remember the lucid dreams just focus on something you will see in real life when you wake up and change it in your dream. IE: Pull out all the TP off the roll in your dream. When you wake up and visit the rest room you will likely remember and that will help you recall some of your dream.

I know my cat protects me while I sleep, from what I don't know. But she sleeps next to me every night and it makes me feel safer somehow in my dreams.

ive already mentioned this but i recently broke my neck. the first night i came home my cat tried to crawl inside my brace. now he sleeps on my chest as close to the brace as possible

Yep, many times, the most vivid I was walking in the dark and some creature jumped at me on the neck and shook me, which sent me straight back to this realm. Death on dreams means usually for me being sent back to "reality".

I guess it's similar to dying in real life, you feel a rush of adrenaline right before it happens but when death hits you you're already out, and in the case of a dream you wake up here (dunno where you wake up at when you die IRL though Wink)

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
I've died many a time in my dreams. There are 3 likely outcomes:

1.) you wake up
2.) you enter a new dream
3.) you continue on as if nothing happened or you are invincible.

I wouldn't rule out dying in real life from a dream, there's no evidence to say this can't happened. Whether from a physical symptom like going into shock and having a heart attack, or sleep apnea and not breathing, or even from an astral entity or demon perhaps.

I have also killed myself on purpose in a lucid dream to overcome fear... I've shot myself, nose-dived off a skyscaper head first into the ground, been run over by a car, etc. What happens next is one of the 3 likely outcomes I listed above. Usually there is no pain but not always, however if there is pain its no way near as bad as it would be in real life.

Overcome your fear, a wise man once said there is nothing to fear but fear itself. Not only that, but when you face your fear head on in a lucid dream you gain 100% lucidity and control. Besides, dying is just a transition to a new beginning it is not the end.

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
only had one death dream, shot in the chest. no pain, but ohh the build-up to my death was heavy, the rising fear rippling through every fiber in my being. hopelessness, trapped and knowing the shooter had spotted me, all I've ever known, all I've ever lived for about to be snuffed out, erased from this world, closer she steps,

4 seconds left, I can hear her footsteps, 3 seconds, terror, 2, despair, 1, acceptance, 0, *BANG!!*

And then I woke up and had a good day. The final moment of accepting it, and not being afraid was priceless. If I could feel the pain though, I wouldnt be so fond of that dream

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
I've heard that if you really die in a dream, you die in real life, or at least experience something, as it sounds you did.

Years ago I had a dream that I was being chased by a gunman. He had the gun pointed at me, pulled the trigger but I woke up just as he did. I was shaking, out of breath - like I literally had been running.

Another time I dreamt I fell from a really tall building, but woke up before I hit ground....

Idk, interesting anyway =)

well, actually I did die once in a dream. I can only remember running through the woods , running waway from something or so. I managed to "survive" at least I thought I did. After talking to other people, friends etc., they seemed frightened of me. I asked them what was wrong with me. They answered "your eyes! They are dead! You are dead!" .. Then I woke up and went to the bathroom mirror to check if i was alive or not. Boy i'll never forget the image in the mirror as long as I live. It wasn't even a face anymore, more a grotesque face, and those eyes..oh boy.. Purely black and dead. I guess i wasnt really awake when i entered the bathroom, more half asleep.. But this image and dream haunted my for years.

My only real nightmare. True story.

Yes, I've drowned a couple of times, been hit by the wave of a nuclear explosion and other stuff. coffee4

PS. I think it's you preparing yourself.
Love is not the game, life is.
-
When we wake up in this "reality" every morning, we are actually falling asleep, because only in our dreams we are truly awake.
-
We are not our body, nor our mind. We are not the voice in our body, nor our head. We are the the here and now, experiencing without any input from either of the mentioned above.
-
It's not about others forgiving you, but whether you can forgive yourself.
-
It doesn't take much energy to make the wrong decision. But to make the right one, you have to put every fiber of your being to it.
-
I know i have a lot to work on. But knowing that there's no hairy ass man in the clouds to judge me when I have little bit of fun on the expense of someone elses ignorance, makes life a whole lot easier.

Re: Have you ever died in a dream??
I remember having a dream - I was younger, maybe 10 or something I got shot in the chest and died....

I've had dreams of catastrophes that engulfed me, knowing they were my last moments, actually experiencing past this point, a sensation of bliss, peace, clarity.

I've had other dreams I get injected with something paralysing.

In my dreams I always stay at peace knowing I'm going to die, I always assure not to feel for me (my mum in shock), for no one to be sad, that its all ok, or that I'm sorry, I've actually yelled out "i love eveyone" and hoped for peace in the last moments....

I suffer occasionally, and sometimes many nights in a row... from hypnagogic sleep paralysis for some time...

sleep paralysis - not intentional - when I was 13 or so I read about astral travelling/projection I had not much success. I have gone with the paralysis, it's frightening to say the least most of the time. Once although I managed to get deeper and stay conscious, get up (thought I snapped out of it and actually woke up it was so real) but something just, didn't feel right and I thought, maybe I am dreaming, or who knows, and decided to just jump at the wall and through, outside which freaked me out but in a good way got excited and thought I'd try what I read about, flying... jumped, and flew, but was not so easy, like thought/concentrated control.

I have had a dream in which i died. I wont describe all of the dream but i was shot in the chest and gasped my last breath. Everything went dark for like 10 seconds. when i awoke i wasnt breathing. Just curious if others have had similar experiences because "they" say you cant die in dreams.

Not sure.......I was t-boned once in a dream, I woke up just as the car hit (passenger side). I saw the exact car a few days later on my way home from college run the exact light that I was going thru in my dream.

Deja vu or a warning, I still believe it was given to me that night.

Had a dream four friends and myself were sitting around a campfire and decided to play Russian roulette, with a shotgun.lol. Of coarse I went first and blew my head to pieces. And died. I left my body, and hovered over looking down at my body ,and brain matter, and my friends completely losing it, and were in in a state of panic. After a minute or so, my spirit went back into my body. The pieces of my skull and brain then began to move back together and heal itself. I then opened my eyes and sat up, and said to everyone," I am Jesus".
It was one of those vivid dreams that seems so real. Still gives me chills talking about it.

i find your dream to be very interesting. Without knowing your religious beliefs it shows me you are awake. You realize how we are all connected to THE ALL on some level. Jesus was misinterpreted through the bible. He was just like anyone who came to this realization. He realized we are all god. we are all unified and he shared his theories. Not sure why but i felt the need to share that info.
