MB condemned the Fatwa - meanwhile Youth Revolution Coalition and Several other parties have said they will not participate in what should have been a rally in support of Morsi and to ensure Revolution Goals will continue to be met, that includes the Copts in Egypt (Coalition of all Coptic Movements) - they say there's an element of counter Revolution and remnants of Shafiq supporters and suspicions someone will try to start violence.

We all know of this and many decide not to go because of it. Nobody, Copts or Muslims, are doing anti MB protests except the counter Revolutionaries. Don't believe it? Call the spokesperson for Copts in Egypt...or contact online to get clarification. Anyone who will start violence, is not for Egypt but for another military dictatorship with a puppet.

A Warning Sign: Cleric's fatwa risks dragging Egypt back to the darkness

Al-Azhar cleric issues edict sanctioning resistance to planned anti-Brotherhood protest; ElBaradei and other critics warn of looming fascism 'cloaked in religion'.

Sheikh Hashem Islam, a member of the Fatwas (religious edicts) Committee of Egypt's highest Islamic authority, Al-Azhar, has preached that confronting those who plan to hit the streets 24 August to protest against the Muslim Brotherhood and President Mohamed Morsi may not be punishable.

"This is a revolution that starkly goes against democracy and freedom," he said during a forum held at the Egyptian Diplomatic Club late Tuesday.

"Who wants to join the 24 August uprising will be against the 25 January Revolution … These people would be committing high treason against their nation, God, his prophet and Muslims."

"So, I say stand up against them. If they fight you, fight them back … if they kill some of you, the victims will go to heaven, and if you kill them, that would be righteous."

Friday Protest in Egypt Could Turn Ugly; Prayers Urged

August 24 is tomorrow – the “second day of anger” as some Egyptians have chosen to name it.

It’s described as the nationwide plea of opposition movements; writers, politicians and many others desiring a new, open civil country to revolt against the Islamist parties who seem to be seeking to turn Egypt into a closed Islamic state. Their appeal to condemn the Islamists’ greed for power may (or may not!) manage to convince crowds of Egyptians to go down again to the streets.

What makes this potential clash even scarier is the recent “fatwa” (religious edict) released by a couple of Islamist leaders, declaring that anyone who demonstrates on Friday against the “one-party show” are enemies of Allah and should be killed.

Egypt's Brotherhood sees first protests against their rule

Liberals and military supporters are protesting Friday against Islamist President Mohamed Morsi aiming to contain what they see as monopolistic Muslim Brotherhood rule

Dozens of Egyptians are protesting against President Mohamed Morsi in Cairo on Friday, seeking to challenge the Islamist president and his Muslim Brotherhood group on the street less than two months into his rule with a first test of his popularity.

Military supporters, liberals, Coptic Christian organisations and activists behind Friday's call to protest accuse Morsi of seeking to monopolise power after he wrested back authorities in August that the military council, which had ruled Egypt for a year and a half, had sought to retain for itself.

An Ahram Online reporter present at the protests at the presidential palace in the upscale military-dominated suburb of Korba says that the security forces are excessive.

Even all of the roads leading to the Ministry of Defence in the contiguous city are plagued with security and they have set up barbed wire to discourage passage.

Egypt protesters clash briefly in downtown Cairo

CAIRO: With thousands of anti-Muslim Brotherhood and anti-President Mohamed Morsi protesters taking to Egypt’s streets on Friday, many observers believed it was only a matter of time before clashes broke out.

They did briefly near downtown Cairo’s Tahrir Square early in the afternoon as pro-Morsi and anti-Morsi demonstrators battled in what eyewitnesses told Bikyamasr.com were “brief scuffles.”

By late in the afternoon, however, those protesters, numerous local media reports and activists on social media sites said, were being overwhelmed by pro-Morsi supporters.

Analysis: Brotherhood taking total control

While the world persists in looking for signs of pragmatism in the Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsy is quietly taking over all the power bases in the country.

Having gotten rid of the army old guard, he replaced them with his own men – officers belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood or known sympathizers. Then he turned his attention to the media, replacing 50 editors working for the government’s extensive and influential press empire – including Al- Ahram, Al-Akhbar, Al-Gomhuria. He is now busy appointing new governors to the 27 regions of the country.

Hosni Mubarak used to choose retired generals he could depend on for these sensitive posts; Morsy is hand picking party faithful. At the same time upper echelons in government ministries and economic and cultural organizations are methodically being replaced. The Muslim Brotherhood is fast assuming total control. For many observers, the deployment of army units is Sinai is more about proclaiming Egyptian sovereignty in the face of Israel than actually fighting Islamic terrorism.
