How can this happen in NY??..With all of the Gun laws they have?

No, interestingly enough, the cops were right around the corner on 5th Avenue apparently.

Oh please. According to reports, the cops were across the street in front of the Empire State Building. Tourist attractions like that are guarded in NYC...not only inside, but outside.

Apparently you have never been to NYC. Cops are especially near the tourist areas. Lots of cops around Times Square also...on horses, on foot, etc. There are probably a lot undercover, too.

Has anyone ever considered the fact that indeed these incidents stimulate what little economy there is left?

Check your facts. You will see the states with the most restrictive gun laws have much higher crime rates. That's because criminals prefer unarmed victims. Where I live, there is practically zero violent crime, because we have the 2nd amendment right to carry fire arms. Criminals know that a very high percentage of the population here are carrying. If a dumb punk pulled a gun and started shooting, he wouldn't have the chance to kill a room full of people, because most of us would be shooting back.
