Why aren't these storage areas fitted with permanent monitoring systems..? Why the need to drill test wells..?
 Quoting: Waterbug

They capped it last year due to problems, so they have to drill another hole to see whats going on as they cannot check where it was originaly drilled.

Sinkhole engineer: Little can be done if cavern is fractured

If the sinkhole cavern is fractured, little can be done was the news approximately 350 residents heard at a public meeting Friday night in Pierre Part...

"In Louisiana here, there are about 13,000 of these abandoned wells throughout the sate that still need to be mitigated because they are polluting parts of the state of Louisiana and that is Big Oil, our biggest employee here in Louisiana,” retired General Russel Honoré recently told CNN.

Sinkhole in Isaac's 'cone of uncertainty,' 63 miles from Gulf
August 25, 2012 [link to www.examiner.com]

"On the eve of Hurricane Katrina's seventh anniversary, the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) is urging south Louisiana residents to prepare this weekend for Tropical Storm Isaac since part of the state, including its giant sinkhole area, is in the “cone of uncertainty” where the storm could make landfall, according to the National Weather Service. Even if south Louisiana does not take a direct hit, Isaac is threatening the already unstable sinkhole swampland area with more water, flooding and winds carrying its contaminants further."

08/25/2012 Flyover.

With Issac heading in, they may not be able to do many more flyovers.

Also, they announced that the EPA showed up theretoday finally.

Then when they resume, will probably say "look what the storm has caused now"

Useless, and what took them so long?.

Newest models still moving Isaac further and further west, now it's headed on a Katrina like path, near directly towards NOLA: [link to my.sfwmd.gov]

Well lets hope that changes, New Orleans has not completely recovered from Katrina yet. Your right if it gets worse during the storm they will probably blame it. I'm sure that people who have been evacuated will know the troubles were there all along though. Maybe it won't be so easy to pull the wool over this time.

Threads scattered all over still, can't keep up in a manner that will give comprehension to this matter.

Can contribute, but don't have time to sort through an unorganized mess...

I tried.
