OH? So now you are going to just sit there and attack all ACs?

Seriously though... pics of whatever (choppers or as close as you can get) would probably help you out here... although if I were you, I wouldn't give a shit about pleasing other people. Cuz I'm just an ass like that. :)

Nope, only responding to those attacking me ( or posting blatantly incorrect information). I could find any pic I wanted on the net, post it and say I took it right? I don't go out of my way to piss people off, but no, I won't go out and take pics and post them so the very next person can then ask how do they know I actually took the pic.

If I did care enough, I'd tell you to think of something to grab a pic of, with a way to prove I took it, and post it. Not even sure an unpaid account can post a pic here.

old and scared from Alabama here...I'm a "she" by the way.

I began following the sinkhole from when I first heard of it, somewhere other than this site. I was alarmed then because I was aware of the lies we were told regarding the DWH incident and believed there was more to this sinkhole situation because I couldn't find any information on it other than Dutchsinse, ENENews, BayouBuzz, etc. No mention of it in the MSM. That scared me more.

I searched several site as many days as I could and found this site by chance. Does it scare me...yes, but the whole thing scares me. Would I be less afraid if I hadn't come here...probably not. When the government hides information for citizens...that scares me...really really scares me.

I've discovered good and bad information here, as well as many other places. I wish the fighting would stop here but the information from ALL sites scare me...none more than any other. I'm still searching for the truth in it all.

Enenews: Stuart Smith, Attorney: This is a really an ongoing disaster. Itís going to continue to get worse. Hopefully the entire dome wonít collapse, but thatís what some geologists are predicting.

And also this: Stuart Smith, Attorney: Itís very similar to what happened in the Deepwater Horizon [Gulf of Mexico] disaster where these operations are being conducted deep underground in the blind so to speak. They applied for permits to dispose of radioactive and other waste claiming it was safe, now everything is up in the air and the material is leaking into the environment.

Just some confirmation of what we already know.

Patassa - did I read you right, that you are sitting 3000 ft from the sinkhole??? If so, why are you not providing some video or still pics, some "Johnny-on-the-spot" info instead of acting like a jerk to those of us who are here JUST BECAUSE WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE BAYOU AND THE FOLKS THERE???

This old world is becoming a crapier place daily, in part because of people like you who never learned civility! And as noted to me by someone else yesterday, it seems to be getting worse every day. I realize the anonimity of the internet allows for freedom of nastiness that face-to-face seems to keep in check. After seeing the shill attack yesterday, I'm not much inclined to put up with your nonsense either. It's just a milder version, but nastiness none-the-less. And for no good reason that I can tell.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20609565

Still pictures or videos of what? Do you think they are allowing just anyone to go near that sinkhole? There is nothing else to GET pictures or video of. I have pics of the command center. I have pics of the helicopters above me. What would posting those do?

Otherwise, besides the command center, the seismic monitors all over the place, and new activity with the geoprobes/vent wells, life seems normal here....just void of 90% of the residents.

Sorry if you think I am being nasty, but my post was attacked first, and again, if one doesn't have proof to back up what they say, then they need to admit it is only their opinion, and not state it as fact.

People ARE reading all of this shit and are truly more afraid because of it. Why would you NOT expect me to get upset to see a video or text posted that the sinkhole has completely collapsed, or that the military has invaded our town? Look at the "old confused" poster from Alabama. Do you think he/she would be half as scared as they are if some of this crap wasn't posted without proof?

I understand where poster Jasto is coming from, and I also felt that way when I first started reading. Then I decided to just ignore it and post facts with links on my own thread. No one is interested in facts though, -not enough doom gloom, obviously, and the more I read, the more absolutely ridiculous things I see posted, and I will correct them when I see them posted.

Here is what I know from attending every meeting, briefing, and press conference, and keeping up with the AP Blog.

Life was normal in April here. Gas bubbles were found in several spots in the bayou. They called it bubbles, but in some spots it was more like boiling water. I have NOT seen them personally because I'm scared to go near them. a family member, and friends have seen them.

The officials blew off the bubbles at first, until people kept reporting them, along with new "tremors" that were cracking walls and foundations.

Then officials tried to blow off the tremors as "trucks passing on the highway".

When enough people complained, officials finally listened.

Next came the disclosure that a Texas Brine cavern had had integrity problems almost a year ago. This information was uncovered by a local reporter that went digging through LDNR records.

Local officials, and residents were pissed, and looked at this as a cover up between LDNR and Texas Brine. A command post starting off with GOHSEP was setup. Then DEQ followed, then DNR.

On August 3, we all woke up to a very strong odor of deisel. Later that day the news was out of the sinkhole. Later that day a press conference was called, and a mandatory evacuation was called.

Texas Brine was ordered by LDNR to drill a relief well to investigate their cavern with the problem.

Meanwhile, as the water was being checked, huge pressurized gas pockets were being found, leading to the conclusion that gas was all around under us.

All gas/oil/brine industrieson the salt dome were ordered to assess and vent gas. Crosstex startedmoving it'sButane from the close cavern to another cavern further away.

Chevron ( I believe) is also removing their gas.

The relief well was drilled. The cavern was entered, and found to be damaged . Initial reports were that no gas came out, AS expected. 30 minutes later, gas and oil started virtually spewing from the well/cavern and had to be flared off.

A few days later, Texas Brine posted their daily report basically saying nothing had changed, then 30 minutes later, gave out a press release stating that they were told by "experts" that the damage to the cavern was FROM the tremors. This was done without notifying officials or residents of this "conclusion".

USGS countered that with just the opposite, saying the tremors were caused by the damaged cavern.

Water and air is being monitored. Vent wells are being installed in various locations to vent the gas.

The source of the gas has not been determined. The people are being told to stay away because it IS a dangerous situation. There has never been a "media blackout". People are just not interested. CNN and NBC were each here one time, and lost interest. Local media is staying on top of it.

I have no problem with all the theories being presented here. I realize this is a conspiracy theory forum. I find some of them interesting. It's the blatant drama seeking mis information I have a problem with, and the repeating of that information without any evidence to substain it whatsoever, such as the post above about the sinkhole being completely collapsed, and the military being here.

That says the site is prohibited, not that webcams are. There are many many people at the site, but they don't let the public anywhere close. I don't know why they don't have webcams there. I don't even know if anyone has suggested it. But obviosuly it is not completely prohibited as there are people working there, and there is an occasional from the ground video. We, the public can only see down the road to the Texas Brine pad from the highway. They have the gate gaurded.

But I see where you got the info. Thanks.

There are NO FEMA camps.

The officials tell us it is not safe.

The evacuation is mandatory but not forced. This same thing happened in 2003-2004 and it WAS forced. They didn't even want people starting their vehicles, being afraid of any spark setting off explosions.

Yes, I feel the tremors.

As far as being afraid, yes and no. I was more afraid early on than I am now. I do feel if it was necessary to call a forced evac, they would. I think they are only staying at mandatory simply because they don't know, and to protect the people. They did have us all that stayed, or come and go, give next of kin names. The command post, which now has GOHSEP, DEQ, DNR, State Police and Assumption Parish Sheriff emergency units set up, is much closer to the sinkhole than I am. I have to think if it was that dangerous, they would move the command post further away to protect their own.

It's the blatant drama seeking mis information I have a problem with, and the repeating of that information without any evidence to substain it whatsoever, such as the post above about the sinkhole being completely collapsed, and the military being here.

After reading this I have one question.

You all found out about the sinkhole on aug 3rd after everyone smelt diesel, do some people think that the sinkhole may have started earlier then that but no one knew until it got bigger and had the diesel?

So I guess East Texas's synopsis is actually spot on.

old and scared from Alabama here...I'm a "she" by the way.

I don't know of anyone that thinks that. I think most feel it happened all at once for 2 reasons. It is very close to the Texas Brine site, and it would have been seen, and the tremors stopped when the sinkhole happened. Either right before, or at the same time, I don't know, but tremors were being felt and recorded up until Aug 2nd. Sinkhole happened Aug 3rd. The diesel smell was overwhelmingly strong. Totally different than what we occasionally smell now. Everyone knew that something had happened. The tremors were not felt again until a few weks ago when they started back up.

Thank you Marsute. I will tell you that my family is NOT here, thus why I go back and forth.

Many people living here, also work here. Imagine evacuating an area but coming back to it to work. Another reason I question the danger, is that they have not closed the highway that is closer to any of us, down, and that highway hosts many school buses filled with kids on a daily basis, as well as all through traffic. How can that be?

Gas bubbles have been being seen in these bayous for years and years. Reports of much smaller scale sinkholes have been reported to be in peoples yards. That is part of the initial lack of concern, I believe.

At Napoleanville salt dome, shale layers were encountered in some caverns, indicating the salt dome edge and enclosing rocks had been encountered, with
insufficient buffer salt remaining have resulted in cavern integrity and pressure maintenance problems.

when shale layers were encountered indicating that due to poor site characterisation, the
sidewalls of the salt dome/stock had been intersected during brining operations

Problems were encountered at the Napoleanville
(Louisiana) site, due to insufficient site characterization, with the caverns being built too close
to the edge of a salt dome and encountered Ďhost rockí in the cavern walls.

Uncontrolled leaching could also lead to unnoticed dissolution of the roof salt, which would be
thinner than expected, or even absent.

Potentially dangerous conditions could then arise,
including collapse of the cavern roof and ultimately overlying strata.

I think you are right. The sinkhole is a sign of what is going on underneath. From the flyover videos it looks like a much larger area is having problems. The fact that all those different bubble areas seem connected, but are so far apart from each other, is a worry.

It would seem likely that since this sinkhole started with ground tremors and bubbling - then all the other areas that are starting to bubble are likely to become sinkholes too.

I hope they are finding out what is under them and why and how the bubble areas are connected.
