Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25122258 what the hell are you talking about? ignorant. before Aug. the cavern was empty and inactive. since then the cavern has filled with natural gas. therefore, that natural gas had to come from somewhere. and, it is that same "somewhere" that is feeding all of the natural gas that is gradually creeping and saturating all of the ground in Assumption Parish. Ok So it wasn't filled with brine like they were saying. Like I siad unless they lied about what was in it. Brine and diesel were in the cavern, it was not empty. It was empty of storage stuff but not empty of anything. By the way, if you are right where did all the natural gas that filled it come from? And yes I am aware that salt reacting with stuff can make gas, but reallt that much? It's coming from somewhere else. why are you saying petty things just to divert attention away from the basic facts. Texas Brine was finished harvesting brine from that cavern more than a year ago. the purpose of their coming back was to prepare the cavern for use as a storage vessel (for chemicals, natural gas, or whatever) there may have been crap floating around on the floor of the cavern, it's a big cavern. but it was NOT full of natural gas. Your twisting my words, I just said it was not filled with gas, that the gas isn't from the cavern. The cavern was abandoned not being preped for storage. o.k. and then by complete coincidence the roof of the cavern fell down and a sinkhole formed. (note: caverns collapse and form sinkholes all of the time all around the world). and then they start arguing about whether Texas Brine could use the cavern for storage in its damaged condition. and all the while they were arguing ( early sept) the cavern started filling with natural gas. and then everyone said uh-oh. and, walla, here we are today. |

First, I figured out what was bugging me so much about all the hoopla headlines about the methane in the water, like it was new exposed secrets. As I said, I had heard the words personally from DHH, long before the letter dated Oct 2nd. I found the first letter, dated Sep 13.The letters are almost identical. Just different sampling dates. [link to new.dhh.louisiana.gov] [link to new.dhh.louisiana.gov] So, my faith is restored in our LOCAL officials. Second, yes, our little paper only comes out once a week. Easily verified by calling them. This really is a very small community. The lady at our little store wouldn't even charge me the 50 cents because the paper was almost a week old, LOL. Third, for the joker (2258) that posted a photobucket picture of "his" copy, well, the difference is just that. A pic of a paper, versus me holding the paper, seen at 1:00 on the first video. Fourth, why am I not contributing more of what's going on around here? Because nothing is going on. I've said it before. Other than being practically deserted, life seems normal here. For 1120. You asked if I felt I was being watched. Funny quick story. They have placed portable air monitors all over the place out here. They look like cameras locked up in a metal box on a tripod. When I saw the first one, I got out and walked up to it to take a picture, and as soon as I got close to it, I could hear it beeping. I'm like "oh crap....that thing is taking pictures of ME!". THEN, out of nowhere comes 2 people in a green army colored golf cart. I immediately started explaining that I hadn't touched it and was just going to get a picture. They laughed, and said they were there to change the battery, and that when the batteries get low, they are notified at the command center. Firewatch....like everyone else, I was consumed with all of this, and reading everything I could find on it. GLP was right there in a google search one day, and I clicked on it. Never even knew about it before this. Thanks to 1120, wishiwas, miabelieves, marsute, dangerwalt, 5565, 2291 and anyone else that spoke up in my defense. I've done all I am willing to do to prove myself, but I realize with trolls, it's never enough. [link to en.wikipedia.org] West Nile virus (WNV) is a mosquito-borne zoonotic arbovirus belonging to the genus Flavivirus in the family Flaviviridae. This flavivirus is found in temperate and tropical regions of the world. It was first identified in the West Nile subregion in the East African nation of Uganda in 1937. Prior to the mid 1990s, WNV disease occurred only sporadically and was considered a minor risk for humans, until an outbreak in Algeria in 1994, with cases of WNV-caused encephalitis, and the first large outbreak in Romania in 1996, with a high number of cases with neuroinvasive disease. WNV has now spread globally, with the first case in the Western Hemisphere being identified in New York City in 1999;[1] over the next 5 years, the virus spread across the continental United States, north into Canada, and southward into the Caribbean Islands and Latin America. WNV also spread to Europe, beyond the Mediterranean Basin [a new strain of the virus was recently (2012) identified in Italy]. WNV is now considered to be an endemic pathogen in Africa, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Europe and in the United States, which in 2012 has experienced one of its worst epidemics. |
