Cracks and fissures are opening up on the sea floor over an area of several miles. A number of "pock marks" have appeared on the sea floor as far as 20 miles away from the original Macondo blow out. Oil and methane gas is escaping from areas that have never even been drilled.

"Frighteningly, these fissures appear to be growing and connecting with each other. The methane pock marks are growing in size. Even worse, the weakened sea floor is being heaved up into a massive, fracturing, mound. A geological time bomb, previously locked away under miles of rock, has been disturbed. Evidence is pointing to the very grim possibility that a methane gas bubble, 15 to 20 miles in diameter, could indeed rupture the sea floor and escape with unimaginable violence.

"John Kessler of Texas A & M University, said "This is the most vigorous methane eruption in modern history". The oil contains 40% methane – much higher than the usual 5%. The USGS claims that 2,900 cubic feet of gas is accompanying each barrel of oil from the well – also much higher than usual…."

Someone a few days ago asked how to separate salt into its components one of them being Gas. I posted a link to the process using electricity. This was posted on another thread.

"Look up piezoelectric currents and seismic fluctuations, then add massive amounts of methane to that equation."

You could also add the present of salt and the production of gas from salt. sk

Seeker2 was on it. Never set it that way, but i removed it and thats what it was.

Texas Brine advises that clean up continues at the sinkhole.

We are expecting the LA State Police helicopter for a flyover this afternoon. We will post a video as soon as that is complete.

The Shaw Group will be logging vent well #1 today to see exactly how much gas is present.

There was a short period of time that Highway 70 was closed this morning while a flare was checked at Crosstex. The flare was quite large; however, we have been advised that it was within normal operations. The road was closed as a safety measure to verify that it was actaully a flare and not a fire on Crosstex property.

Geoprobes have been placed on 2 individual private properties in Grand Bayou. Data from these geoprobes is not available yet.

A 25 foot section of pipeline (from Acadian Gas’ pipeline) floated to the surface on yesterday on the edge of the pipeline right-0f-way. The pipeline was emptied previously which made it become bouyant and since the sinkhole occurred there is no earthen cover to keep the pipeline submerged. The risks associated with this incident is for workers in the sinkhole – that they don’t run into/over the floating pipe. Safety measures are being taken at the site to avoid the risk. Hwy 70 was periodically closed earlier due to an unusual flare at Crosstex. We’ve received inquiries about a well being in fire… This was a large flare and NOT a fire. Although the flare was large, we’ve been advised that it was still within normal operations. The road was closed for safety purposes while the flare was checked. The road is now open.

At this point looking at all the evidence, it would seem like we are seeing a massive build up of pressure that is seeking escape. Question being where is the weakest point, in the gulf or LA. Just a matter of time given the conditions we are seeing in both places. Gases leaking from the seabed and from the land in LA. Not good. It would seem to be a case of where and when, not if. The pressure will continue to build until an events of, I believe, huge proporsions takes place. Just my two cents. sk

The University of Texas at Austin is leading a major research study to measure methane emissions from natural gas production in several fields including the Barnett Shale, the latest academic effort to assess the environmental impact of the drilling boom.

The study, launched in May, is directly measuring emissions at sites, including hydraulically fractured wells. Results are expected to be released in January.

"A greater understanding of the amount of methane emitted into the atmosphere can better inform sound policies and management of emissions from well sites," the school said in a news release.

David Allen, principal investigator and director of the UT's Cockrell School of Engineering's Center for Energy and Environmental Resources, said the Barnett in North Texas was "among the most extensively sampled of the regions that we visited." Other fields included the Eagle Ford in South Texas, the Haynesville in East Texas and Louisiana, the Marcellus in Appalachia, the Fayetteville in Arkansas and the Denver-Julesberg in Colorado.

And while oil found in the Gulf matches test results of crude/gas stocks related to the now closed BP Macondo well (despite continued activity at the site ever since), some have wondered why there are no definitive test results on the hydrocarbons and gases present.

Why are these test results not being shared with the scientific community? Why are they not being sent out for independent review?

People can say what they want about us Coon-asses, we may seem simple and dumb, but we ain't. We are simple, true there. Makes life easier and more enjoyable. But dumb? Naw, cherie!

We are more than capable of putting two and two together. WE know why and what's going on. And so do all of you guys because (1) you've been told and (2) those of you who didn't believe it are putting the picture together and figuring it out for yourselves.

Locals need to start asking repeatedly if the hydrocarbons in the sinkhole match testing done on the BP Macondo hydrocarbons. There are videos of these meetings popping up all over the place.

Louisiana's giant sinkhole in Assumption Parish expanded 500 square feet Tuesday morning, according to officials. Earlier Tuesday, amid debating whether earthquakes caused the nearby breached salt cavern to fail, extra seismic activity was recorded, according to USGS monitors observed by this reporter, also noting that in 2010, experts foretold a methane crisis, one saying a methane-caused sinkhole could result from BP's oil catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico.
