Anyone else notice we haven't gotten much information on the sinkhole since the tremors? No fly overs, no updates, nothing? WTH is going on there I wonder?
The only thing I have heard for a few days is the geologist saying he may have been wrong about there not being much pressure under ground, as the meters were plugged and not reading correctly? Or something like that. The methene may be under more pressure than they thought. Higher danger for an explosion may be present.

Finally they are giving us some sinkhole news and it isn't good.

It has been reported that a large slough in just occurred at the sinkhole site. The size is estimated to be a 20; by 80; section located on the east side of the sinkhole. No additional details are available at this time.

Excellent graphic of the sink hole (maps and renditions) really helpful for the layperson...

also heard a chunk fell in...

The floor of the well that was drilled to 5800 ft. is rising? Maybe that is due to the CO2 that is being pumped into the ground 300 miles away near the Mitsubishi plant?

I may have the facts there wrong.....see

carbon sequestration info a couple pages back

Something just sounds so off with that, I can't work out how the floor is rising but it's not coming from above, or the side, or at least they haven't mentioned more of the side of the cavern falling.

Yes, I would say things seem off everywhere!

I still keep hearing a reporter on CNN last night who said in an almost bubbly overly enthusiastic voice:

"WE HAVE OUR FIRST AMERICAN DEATH" as she was notifying us of the 30 year old who was killed by a falling tree.

I can't let go of that one.

blackeye

I remember when CNN went off the deep end. The first time I noticed it was in 1989...when they dramatized the gulf war. This is a nightmare we are living these days. We let it go way too far.

Yeah. This man's tap water is now flammable, but it has NOTHING to do with the methane bubbling out of the ground around the sinkhole per DEQ. Nah, these are not the methanes you are looking for.

These people really do think we are idiots. Yes, I know that correlation does not equal causation. But when you have methane bubbling up for dozens of miles away from, and inside, a sinkhole, well, we can add.

And this is not 1984. 2+2=5? I don't think so.

Re: Don't make ASSUMPTIONS; try to Understand.
So, I have asked this before but I am really wondering now. Back in August, when the sink hole was only the size of one football field, the butane cavern was 1500' away? They have been in the process of moving that butane, as I understand it, with varying reports on how long that may take.
So, before this latest slough in, the sink hole was 5 football fields in size. How close is it now to breaching that butane cavern? Or has it already been breached? How far along are they in moving that butane? I haven't yet had time to look at the latest town meeting info, so maybe it was mentioned in that. Does anyone know?

For anyone interested, go to radioreference.com and you can access communications feeds. Police, fire, EMS, air, rail, marine, amateur radio, and more. There are thousands of feeds streaming live over servers on the net. Assumption Parish is first on the list for Louisiana.
Just thought I would give a heads up for anyone interested. There are also scanner apps available for smartphones so you can listen on the go.
