They say there's safety in numbers. How does somebody count? From where I'm sitting (I'm back at Home) the higher (lower) you go, the lower (higher) it is.

mutiny?

Which would be why he would just sit back and watch?

Nice. That makes sense.

So... midnight tonight (0 A M) they will firebomb it by Helicopter (JET)... and the higher the people the lower your safety....

Wonder if Dallas is far enough away to be safe?

Hey CUZZ? Any light to shed?

Oh I'm picking out a thermos for you
not an ordinary thermos for you
but the extra best thermos you can buy
with vinyl and stripes and a cup built right in

I'm picking out a thermos for you
and maybe a barometer too
and what else can I buy
so on me you'll rely
a rear end thermometer too

barometric pressure....

Atmospheric pressure - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In most circumstances atmospheric pressure is closely approximated by the hydrostatic pressure caused by the mass of air above the measurement point. Low-pressure areas have less atmospheric mass above their location, whereas high-pressure areas have more atmospheric mass above their location. Likewise, as elevation increases, there is less overlying atmospheric mass, so that pressure decreases with increasing elevation. On average, a column of air one square centimeter in cross-section, measured from sea level to the top of the atmosphere, has a mass of about 1.03 kg and weight of about 10.1 N (2.28 lbf) (A column one square inch in cross-section would have a mass of about 14.7 lbs and weight of about 65.4 N).

Re: Don't make ASSUMPTIONS; try to Understand.
Atmospheric pressure based on height of water

Atmospheric pressure is often measured with a mercury barometer, and a height of approximately 760 millimetres (30 in) of mercury is often used to illustrate (and measure) atmospheric pressure. However, since mercury is not a substance that humans commonly come in contact with, water often provides a more intuitive way to visualize the pressure of one atmosphere.

One atmosphere (101 kPa or 14.7 psi) is the amount of pressure that can lift water approximately 10.3 m (34 ft). Thus, a diver 10.3 m underwater experiences a pressure of about 2 atmospheres (1 atm of air plus 1 atm of water). This is also the maximum height to which a column of water can be drawn up by suction.

Low pressures such as natural gas lines are sometimes specified in inches of water, typically written as w.c. (water column) or W.G. (inches water gauge). A typical gas-using residential appliance is rated for a maximum of 14 w.c., which is approximately 35 hPa.

Anyone know anything about pressure differentiation?

i.e. Pressure inside the sinkhole versus atmospheric pressure at ground level at the site versus atmospheric pressure at ground level at the site in the EYE of the storm?
 Quoting: tandym

I found the January 2011 letter.

Dear Mr. Ball;
This letter is to serve as notification of a failed Mechanical integrity Test (MIT) of the subject brine production well. As you know, steps were underway for sectioning out a portion of the lower cemented casing to allow additional salt extraction. Upon completion of the section milling phase, a brine injection unit was rigged up to the well to begin the process of pressuring the cavern up for the MlT.

Upon completion of the brine injection phase, the well was shut in
and left to stabilize prior to nitrogen injection. Over the course of next 90+ days, brine wellhead pressure declined and although the rate of decline diminished over time, the magnitude of the pressure drop was such that it was concluded the well lacked sufficient integrity for continued production.

At the beginning of this week, wellhead brine pressure was approximately 65 psi; and the wellhead is scheduled to be completely depressurized within
days.
Texas Brine is the current operator of Well 3, and accordingly, Texas Brine wishes to discuss options for placing the well in monitoring status. Although at this time it is difficult to explain all aspects of this loss of integrity, Texas Brine is committed to satisfying Louisiana DNR
 Quoting: CrissCross

They said the salt dome was depressurized. So, it's just a big empty hole there slowly filling with water?

I just wonder what happens when a very high pressure system sits atop a low pressure sinkhole.

In space, supposedly, a person without a space suit will implode because the pressure inside our bodies is greater than space (which is 'zero')

Since the highpressure is above (the hurricane) could this then draw the sinkhole 'upwards' or 'outwards' -- especially with that leaking methane and the butane dome nearby.

Could this be what causes the explosion?
 Quoting: tandym

Hurricanes are low pressure systems, not high pressure systems. Think of a beautiful clear sunny day and you have the picture of a high pressure system. Hurricanes also typically don't have lightening in them.

Because of the vital role that MAOs play in the inactivation of neurotransmitters, MAO dysfunction (too much or too little MAO activity) is thought to be responsible for a number of psychiatric and neurological disorders. For example, unusually high or low levels of MAOs in the body have been associated with depression,[8] schizophrenia,[9][10] substance abuse, attention deficit disorder, migraines, and irregular sexual maturation

Also I found this:

"The fact that we're going to get more rain doesn't necessarily mean that there will be a great collapse of the sinkhole," Hancock told ABCNews.com today, but said it was possible that "getting additional water into the sidewalls of this sinkhole could lead to a collapse in the sidewalls."

Hancock likened the situtation to building a sandcastle on the beach.

"The last thing we want is for the sand to be really wet," he said. "The more water gets added to the sand, the less stable it is."

"There's no reason why this sinkhole shouldn't continue to grow, but I don't know if it'll have anything to do with how much rain they get," Hancock said. "I'd want to keep an eye on it, but I don't think there's a reason to think that there's going to be significant growth to this associated with the hurricane."

5. ROFL COPTER

When playing any FPS - First Person Shooter - the player, usually a noob player, spins in a circle shooting wildly. Preferred weapons to use are machine guns, but other weapons such as rocket launchers or auto shotguns can be used successfully. To do a successful ROFL COPTER, the player must actually score a kill.
