Anyone else hear the low rumbling sound that could be a whole ton of water eating away at various underground salt caverns? Look at the composition of the soil on the banks too. Either way it's very ominous. |

I checked Cartoon Network, and it seems that Deputy Dawg isn't being aired anymore. Shame - it was such a great show. If you've ever connected to TV characters you sometimes develop affection, deep affection, for those characters, AS IF THEY WERE LIKE FAMILY. Nevertheless here in East Texas it's been hot, very hot. It's getting hotter. And it sounds like my own AC is going out. Which isn't good since the administration passed rules that make the old-style coolant hard and harder to come by. Oh well, here's hoping I don't lose my AC this weekend. It's so hard to get work done on a holiday weekend. If I do at least you guys will know about it. |

Interesting how the sound does get louder when he turns from the vorticity toward the eroded land. Underground echo bouncing off cavernous area? Water would muffle the sound? The geology of gas rich areas is well studied...."capillarity-controlled displacements (of brine by gas, and of gas by brine), formation of hydrate (at the brine/gas interface), and fracturing (induced by pore pressure in the gas phase).” But then again that was from a piece out of Austin for the Center for the Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering regarding Methane Hydrate Project Information. A valve was opened and immediately the water level began to drop and the canal stabilized. However, 30 minutes later St. Tammany Parish was contacted by an employee in the Vicksburg, Miss. office for the Army Corps of Engineers, the entity that owns the locks, and was told to replace the valve because removing it may cause damage to the locks themselves. Brister said the valve was replaced and the water level immediately increased. Brister was then able to contact Brigadier General John W. Peabody with the Army Corps of Engineers, who gave her written permission to remove the valve. It is believed the situation has now stabilized and is no longer a threat. However, until that can be guaranteed, Brister is asking all residents who evacuated to stay evacuated until the evacuation order it rescinded. ?? |
