Lot of bridges. Old bridges. Unmaintained bridges.
Most built with 50 year lifespans in the fifties...
Wouldn't take a lot to isolate huge sections with many of the rivers/creeks made impassible by collapsed bridges caused by a large EQ.
Then you have the freeway exit/entrance ramps, bridges and overpasses. Remember the pancaking..
