Possible connection to thread below about a ‘Burn Ban’ issued by Webster Parish DHS on 10/15 -- prior to last night's explosion there? Could point towards confirmation of theories presented on this thread about the problems reaching way beyond the sinkhole...

Yes, I understand that burn bans are issued for various reasons and the issue with the dry lake bed in Webster Parish - that is why I said 'possible'.

However, given the information revealed on this thread about seeping oil and gas not only at the sinkhole but possibly the entire gulf region, it at least warrants examination: this is an unexplained explosion in Webster Parish, one day after a burn ban was issued in Webster Parish, in the same state as the sinkhole, located in the same gulf region as the sinkhole and large enough to be reported in four states. Lots of dots there to look at that may - or may not - connect.

The Texas Department of State Health Services is looking for piece of equipment containing potentially dangerous radioactive material that was lost Tuesday by an oil and gas crew in a rural part of West Texas. The sealed radioactive source, a small stainless steel cylinder approximately 7 inches long and an inch across, contains Americium-241/Beryllium….The cylinder is stamped with the words “danger radioactive” and “do not handle” along with a radiation warning symbol. Anyone who sees it should stay at least 25 feet away and notify local law enforcement. This type of device is used to evaluate oil and gas wells and is usually stored in a protective shielding. A Halliburton crew was transporting it from a well outside of Pecos to another well south of Odessa. On arrival, the crew noticed the shielding was not locked and the device was missing. DSHS is assisting law enforcement with the search and investigating the loss of the radioactive material.

Description
The Coast Guard notified BP PLC (BP) and Transocean Ltd. (RIG) on Wednesday that a lab had matched the oil from the sheen to oil that gushed from the well drilled after the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded, but said the source was still uncertain: the oil could have been trapped in the wreckage of the rig or from debris left on the seabed after the explosion. Transocean, the world's largest deepwater driller, leased the Deepwater Horizon rig to BP. Late Friday, the federal on-site coordinator for the Deepwater Horizon spill approved a plan put forward by BP and Transocean to investigate the source of the sheen. The companies submitted a response plan after the Coast Guard warned the two companies that they could be held responsible for additional costs associated with the sheen. Brett Clanton, a spokesman for BP, said the company is in the process of implementing the plan approved last week, which consists of surveys by remotely operated vehicles of the seafloor infrastructure, as well as wreckage and debris at the Deepwater Horizon site. "As it has done from the beginning, BP will continue to work closely with the Coast Guard and other federal agencies to investigate potential sources of the sheen," Mr. Clanton said. Petty Officer William Colclough, a spokesman for the Coast Guard, said Monday that the remote-operated submarine is working "in the vicinity of the sheen" in concert with an offshore supply vessel. A Coast Guard staff member is capturing images. In a statement last week, the company suggested that the came from residual oil in the debris and pointed to a federal inspection last year that found the well wasn't leaking. The sheen was first reported by BP on Sept. 16 about 50 miles off the coast of Louisiana and in the same production block where the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded. The Coast Guard, BP and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have since monitored the sheen.

i think this explosion of yesterday(maybe meteor) I think is suspect.

local people are afraid of explosion.
So I think it was something psychological.

It would be the perfect excuse to get people out of the region.

I heard that they want to lift people out there to explore the region, that is rich in petroleum and gas.

is only one theory among many, just a thought.
I could be completely wrong.

Many places in the world to drop a meteor....had to be in this area?

Snoopy Dawg here. There will be an update in the morning. Due to the nature of the Dawgs' various duties changing and re-assignment to other non-related (but possibly related) issues, this will be the last update. At least for the Assumption issue. If our new duties turn out to be of similar nature and circumstance - which we think they will - we will once more do what we can.

Let the reader understand. :(
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1461956

Weird that the Dawgs are reassigned then this explosion business happens..."unrelated but possibly related".

Anyone else think this is oddly related?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17868499

Yes. This is the big event last week that Dawg talked about happening to distract from the sinkhole. Media (and most of us) are now focused elsewhere on the explosion while the ticking time bomb is ignored.
Is it possible it was a deep pocket of gas finding a loud exit somewhere in the ground in Minden? But then again, that wouldn't explain tons of people seeing something fall from the sky either.

Check this article from 2006:

Explosion Rocks Louisiana Bomb Recycling Plant; 1,000-Plus People Evacuated From Schools, Jail

[link to www.wave3.com]

Snip:
More than 10 explosions rocked a bomb recycling plant in northwestern Louisiana on Thursday, forcing the evacuation of an entire town and more than 400 prisoners from a nearby jail, authorities said.
About 600 students from Doyline High School and Union Elementary School were taken to nearby Sibley, the Webster Parish sheriff's office said.

Now compare that to this from today:

Mystery explosion shatters windows, lights sky in Louisiana

The Associated Press reported that at least 10 explosions rocked the bomb recycling plant in northwestern Louisiana, forcing the evacuation of at least 600 students from two schools and more than 400 prisoners from the Webster Parish jail.

[link to www.foxnews.com]

They are recycling the info from the 2006 article. There was only one explosion last night not 10! This is just too in your face. Just too much coincidence.

Confirmed

WEBSTER PARISH, La. -

Webster Parish authorities are confirming that Monday night's loud boom was a bunker at Camp Minden that exploded.

 Quoting: Cobb

"The bunker belongs to Explo, one of the many tenants at Camp Minden that produces explosives on the expansive site . . . Bunkers dot Camp Minden. They are used to store explosives. "
