Seriously. It's getting old. And disgusting.

Ladies, take some pride in yourselves. Quit living like a slob and stuffing your face while denting the couch. That poor couch! Your poor husband! You are crushing his soul, fatty!

I am none of the above (105lbs). We are not all fat & disgusting.

However ...........

Many are. Sad, really.
Life is karma and karma always reflects both past and present circumstance. Our time here is short, so choose carefully and behave well, for all of your tomorrows are presently being decided.

Re: Why are so many American women so damn fat and lazy?
Men and women. But a great majority are not lazy IMO. I worked in the health and fitness industry and trust me, people don't want to be unhealthy and overweight. This is a mental health issue.

Most people I worked with are depressed and/or have a lot of anxiety in their lives. It's a vicious cycle. Then the food industry thrives on this with GMO, MSG, sugar, dominating the food pyramid. Take a look at the grocery store sizes these days. They have become just as obese. It's a multi billion dollar machine, pumping out essentially, addictive drugs to vulnerable people.

Yesterday, I caved myself. I hadn't had a burger in forever, but I was tired, stressed and it was right there at Wendy's! Lol. Yep, I ate a cheese burger. Bleck.

Anyway, instead of berating these people, join a cause and change things. Reveal the dirty deeds of the industry instead of making these people feel more like junk.

Funny this is posted. I was at the Jimmy Buffett concert Tuesday and was shocked at how many people are that overweight... Like by 50lbs and more! Heart attacks waiting to happen everywhere. Really telling.

It's not all mental health, either.

This isn't all directed at you personally, either.

I got fat because of a health issue that slowed me down. Once it's on it's hard to get off. People who say fat people have no respect for the bodies are painting with an awfully wide brush. My meals and snacks are well thought out and much more healthy than some of the skinny people on the planet. I also care very much about the planet and try to do as least harm as I can. Just sayin', all this hate directed at someone who is fat is not always justified as you think it is, sometimes it didn't happen because of reasons you think it is and sometimes the health issue is what caused it and a fat person can actually be a better steward to their bodies and planet than a skinny person.

Statistics show that women are getting much fatter than men and if the trend continues the average women will soon outweigh the average man.
You can believe those statistics if you look at young girls. I consider most girls in high school to be over weight, many by quite a bit. Something has really changed with women.

True. I have also worked with those who had health issues which rendered them immobile. It IS difficult for some people to get the weight back off.

I've seen a host of things contributing to obesity. Thyroid dysfunction is big among women. Cortisol levels, lack of sleep, stress, too much food and not the right kind.

So, when I see a heavy person, I am always analyzing why... What's the deal here. Depression is a big one. Hormones is another. Yes, some people just don't give a damn. I've seen that also.

For the vast majority of overnight people, they don't want to be obese. Are they lazy? Maybe. But this country has the highest stress rate, overworked, least amount of sleep, and a driving fast food industry to feed us. It is very difficult for families who work two full time jobs to get on the ban wagon and prepare healthy meals. By the end of the day, they are tired, stressed, and hungry. :) it's a bad habit that needs to be broken.

I have empathy for those who are obese. There's a reason comfort food is called just that. I think most are truly depressed and can't break the cycle. But there are the slobs also. They really don't care!

Edit: I get in anywhere from 3-4 miles a day walk/run. I see many heavy people out there walking also... People are trying. It's just a struggle for them.

I wonder, how many of them are being told their thyroid is normal, when its not? Hypothyroidism is more prevalent and under treated than many realize. Weight is one of the first symptoms (besides fatigue), and so many are left to suffer w/o treatment, because of "lab values".

And one persons level may be within normal range, but on the high end (TSH), yet their body needs the number to remain toward the lower end to function properly. I've seen people with a TSH of 3, but when reach a 1, feel so much better! But a 3 is considered normal. Eh. Go figure. Very frustrating.

Re: Why are so many American women so damn fat and lazy?
I am an American woman and I am lightyears from fat. I'm tall and slim. I admit that I am capable of some epic pig outs, but my weight is pretty stable and when I gain weight, I can get rid of it within a week. The key is, I weigh myself every other day. Some would say that's wrong, it works for me though. My personal target weight is 130 lbs. I'm cool with being a few lbs. lower than that, but if my weight goes up past 135, I start eating less fattening foods and carbs and I focus more on lean meat, eggs and raw veggies. It never fails me. I do not do strenuous Barbie girl exercise or yuppie yoga. I walk, strength train and do tai chi to keep my core intact. It's working. My muscles are sleek and defined and I am toned. I do not eat garbage. A typical day for me food wise lokks like this:

Breakfast: 4 WHOLE eggs, fried in olive oil and a glass of fresh collard, carrot, ginger, lime, apple and blueberry juice.

Snack: 2 bananas and an apple

Lunch: Five tangerines and a slice of cheesecake

Snack: Good sized bunch of black grapes

Dinner (before 7:30): Broiled trout with tossed salad and brown rice.

Nightcap: Hot herbal tea with no sugar, usually mint

I maintain myself and always get stared at by men and the vain side of me loves it. The practical side of me simply see the logic in eating to nourish the body, not to sate gluttonous desires.

ANYONE can eat this way. I'm not rich, and I eat well and I am thin and healthy without being a gym tard or a health freak. 5'10 130'ish is good for me.

Maybe some fat women enjoy being fat? I know when my weight goes up, I enjoy the sensuous feeling of my thighs and bottom filling out more, but it's also not a look I want to add too. A happy mean is necessary...

Diet is not the cause for everyone. I am 5'7" and 110 lbs and have never had a problem with weight. My husband on the other hand has always struggled with his weight. My 12 year old daughter is on the cusp of being overweight. She eats right, I do not allow soda in the house and chips and cookies are a rare treat. I only cook healthy meal and she is active. She participates in Cheerleading and track at school, but still she struggles. Genetics play a large role.

Thank you so much for that last sentence. Personally, I find many skinny or normal people give themselves way too much credit, even if they work on their health, they tend to think it's so easy for everyone if you just work at it. A LOT of it is genetic.
Obviously, someone tall with nordic traits (ex: line of women without large breast and have flat butts) are going to be genetically able to have their bodies "run" leaner.
A shorter women that comes from big boobs and hips with a waist so small even the tall thin nordic types are jealous are going to have a body that "runs" wanting to deposit extra. They judge their weight by their waist line because their legs may be fuller, too. We're all different.
Exercise and proper diet should keep everyone in line from thin to overweight but obesity is from something else and yes sometimes it's medical or accidents but once their it's really hard to get off but I'm sure it's easier for some than others.

Yeah, that's true from what I have read, that genes play a role in weight. Pretty much every female and male relative in my immediate and extended paternal family is overweight to obese. That side of my family loves to eat fried everything, no portion control, soda all the time with every meal and for refreshment, cakes and other sweets at every meal and I am sure you get the picture...they are Southern. I try to strike a balance. I do not shun sweets, I simply regulate my intake of them. I simply lost my taste for fried foods about a decade ago and so I never eat fried anything anymore save for the occasional treat of Thai egg rolls. I have also been diagnosed with high blood pressure despite being fit because it's genetic (thanks family!). So, I understand having a true biological incentive to keep one's health and weight on point.

Your daughter might outgrow this stage because your genes might become expressed in her as she grows. I was a little chunky at that age too, and being active (I was in track too lol) did keep me fit, but I was still a thick kid at 11-12. Not really fat, but thick. Then, something happened around the time I began my menses at 13, and I just slimmed down. You sound like a great mom by helping your daughter make healthy food choices and teaching her the importance of real nutrition. She's lucky. Does she have a lot of muscle? This can look like "fat" of fluff on some people, but they are just built and strong. Depends on the frame. My husband always says some people are built like Clydesdales and others like thoroughbreds but most are somewhere in between. He's such a nut. LOL.

One poster mentioned synthetic estrogen in all the plastics and another poster mentioned GMO foods, white sugar, hfcs, no veggies, etc. I think those are all valid reasons, and soy is another. Like hfcs, soy is in so many processed foods. It's no wonder about half of all Americans have some sort of thyroid disorder what with all the endocrine disruptors we're exposed to, and not just in our food.

Thyroid disorders will not only make people fat, it will make them extremely tired and will give others the impression that they are lazy. I'm not making excuses for fat people. If you're fat and tired, you need to do something about it. Your health is your respnsibility.

Your diet sounds pretty healthy! I'm sure that you can eat more than that though if it is the right stuff in the right balance. I consulted a dietitian last year because I needed some assistance with choosing a diet right for me. My doctor told me that full fat in moderation was better for me than low fat portions when it comes to dairy products. I used to eat a lot of low fat yogurt thinking it was good for me, but my doctor said the sugar and lack of satisfaction from these items were probably sabotaging my efforts. She said fat is good for us in proper amounts, and necessary. It took me a while (a year) to straighten myself out and find a 'flow' that works for me with food.

You used the right word for her, thick. She has a much larger bone structure than I do (looks just like her dad). She is 5'3" and 125 lbs. Some of that is muscle. I am not sure if she will slim down because she hit menses at 11. Currently she wears a 34C. She looks much more like a women than a 12 years old.

Hey,there's nothing wrong with a woman with a few extra pounds on her. Curves are great, more to grab. And if she's lazy, well,no problem. I don't care if the house is perfectly clean,if I wanted to fuck the house,I'd be living with Ryan Homes.

Yeah, I've been dropping/adding things for the past 5 years to see what works best not only for weight but health, too. So far this seems best to not gain weight but I think something still bothers my health issue so I still have to experiment. I don't mind fat although I don't eat much of it. I do eat a small amount of almonds for a snack sometimes, too. I'm obese, so even if I lost a pound a week, i will still be obese next year. This is why it's frustrating to read people hating on people about their weight issue or thinking they are "helping" if they can ridicule someone because of it. But this is GLP and there's a lot of talk with little thinking behind it from some posters. It truly is ignorance on behalf of some "healthy" people spouting their experiences as universal. I quote healthy because some over drink, smoke, engage in risky behavior or use gmo or terrible chemicals without a thought thinking that because I'm obese I'm so much worse off than them, which I don't find as truth.

Here's another thing. I was able to stop working, I don't get anything from the gov't but some people would think that is helping me stay obese but you know I lost 15 pounds when I quit a desk job and although I have a little bit of mobility issues I move more at my own pace just staying at home being a "trophy wife"-LOL (I took that off of Everybody Loves Ramon when his mom said that-lol).

Hey,there's nothing wrong with a woman with a few extra pounds on her. Curves are great, more to grab. And if she's lazy, well,no problem. I don't care if the house is perfectly clean,if I wanted to fuck the house,I'd be living with Ryan Homes.

Besides,a BBW is a thousand times better than these models that look like skeletons with skin streched across them. They look like those photos of concentration camp victims from WW2.

There are more obese men than women. OBESE. Sign of the times. 60% of the population is OBESE. Everybody is lazy thats why they did not get ahead in life or in some cases they did and now they are fat from having lived too well. Either way its a sign that people are too LAZY and could give a shit about themselves. Obese people make me sick. They don't care. I don't care.

Some obese people don't eat a lot. My Mother has a thyroid problem and she eats very little and is in so much emotional and physical pain from her predicament. I pray you die in a horrible manner.

Lack of education is one, another is if you haven't got the resources to live healthy then you cant as simple as that.
Environment is another, trying to but decent quality food is expensive. Genetics is another problem and lack of health care.

"In the womb, plastics are passed via the placenta to the fetus. The more IVs you have with that plastic tubing, the more plastics get into your blood. And they may not show up on tests doctors use to diagnose thyroid problems. Plastics that may create low thyroid functions that in turn create high cholesterol levels.

Could the early puberty rate of some children possibly be tied to hormone changes due to absorption of various types of plastics, certain chemicals, and other toxins from the environment? Endocrine disruptors could be a wide variety of chemicals from plastics or from beauty products.

Scientists are studying obesity as it's also linked to early puberty. But could the same situation result from other hormone disruptors such as pesticides or fire retardants in fabrics?"

I do not do strenuous Barbie girl exercise or yuppie yoga. I walk, strength train and do tai chi to keep my core intact. It's working. My muscles are sleek and defined and I am toned. I do not eat garbage. A typical day for me food wise lokks like this:

Yoga is definitely not just for yuppies. You can do it anywhere, without any props. Just like tai chi. And yoga has an older history than tai chi.
The physical postures in yoga (asanas) were merely designed to ready the body for sitting in meditation. Enlightenment is the goal of yoga.
Along with the physical workout, yoga encompasses breathing exercises (pranayama), diet, devotional chanting, reading philosophy, volunteering, focusing on energy work, and meditation.
It is very spiritual; the antithesis of a superficial lifestyle espoused by 'barbie dolls or yuppies'.

Ok I don't think he's talking about the plump but curvy. Hes talking about the enormous pigs with discolored lower legs due to circulatory issues brought upon by being 350 pounds motoring around the Walmart in a wheelchair cause they are to frigging enormous to waddle down the isle with their ginormous load of GMO shit food

The poses do help me regain strength. I don't actually "do" yoga. No chanting, meditation or going through all poses in order like one is supposed to. It's one of the exercises I can do, a little, although at first I couldn't even barely try to do a pose, let alone hold it for over 10 seconds. But I keep at it, not often because I have to recover but now I can do most on my chart and hold them for over 30 seconds even though I have to modify many of the poses. LIke I posted, I wouldn't call what I do yoga but the effort to try has helped my strength and balance and is the closes thing to an endorphin rush when finishing that I've had in a long time. I used to be extremely fit, although thicker.
