I do not do strenuous Barbie girl exercise or yuppie yoga. I walk, strength train and do tai chi to keep my core intact. It's working. My muscles are sleek and defined and I am toned. I do not eat garbage. A typical day for me food wise lokks like this:

Yoga is definitely not just for yuppies. You can do it anywhere, without any props. Just like tai chi. And yoga has an older history than tai chi.
The physical postures in yoga (asanas) were merely designed to ready the body for sitting in meditation. Enlightenment is the goal of yoga.
Along with the physical workout, yoga encompasses breathing exercises (pranayama), diet, devotional chanting, reading philosophy, volunteering, focusing on energy work, and meditation.
It is very spiritual; the antithesis of a superficial lifestyle espoused by 'barbie dolls or yuppies'.

The poses do help me regain strength. I don't actually "do" yoga. No chanting, meditation or going through all poses in order like one is supposed to. It's one of the exercises I can do, a little, although at first I couldn't even barely try to do a pose, let alone hold it for over 10 seconds. But I keep at it, not often because I have to recover but now I can do most on my chart and hold them for over 30 seconds even though I have to modify many of the poses. LIke I posted, I wouldn't call what I do yoga but the effort to try has helped my strength and balance and is the closes thing to an endorphin rush when finishing that I've had in a long time. I used to be extremely fit, although thicker.
