Jesus may have been a real dude, some sort of light being that was trying to wake people up like we are now, but his messages were completely hijacked by the Elite of his day. They use religion to divide people, and keep people in fear with fabricated things like 'Hell'. It's amazing that their lies are still working after 2000 years...
