Dr. Davis is the NY Times bestselling author of Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find Your Path Back to Health which outlines how wheat is contributing to many health conditions including diabetes, cancer and obesity. Dr. Davis even overcame his own Type 2 diabetes diagnosis by changing his diet. The following are some of the reasons your daily bread, cereal and pasta are ruining your health. According to Dr. Davis “eating more healthy whole grains” is ineffective, fattening, and downright destructive.

Brown sugar is good, but avoid white sugar.
They add sulphur di-oxide and bleach to get it white.

Excellent advice here OP. 5 stars for you. The body just can't even recognise processed bread and stores it away as fat. Dropping or minimising grains and dropping cows milk would turn western health around for the better within 2 weeks.ohyeah

you have to be careful with ALL carbohydrates. the times you eat them in the day have a big effect on how your body uses and stores fat.

Jaggery is gud. (!) But not many prefer it.
Limit sugar at first. Reduce the quatity of sugar in your coffee and tea. Then finally eliminate it altogether.

Jaggery does not make a good coffee, but its healthier.
Where I live, I can still get jaggery off the shelves.

Avoid ALL the WHITE stuff: MILK, WHITE BREAD, WHITE FLOUR, SUGAR.
Reduce rice intake.
Interestingly, mountain tribes which had a high level of health never had rice or wheat on their menu.

There was a thread recently. Can't find it.
But this is the site it referred to:

not unhealthy.
eating over processed food is unhealthy...i am saying "overprocessing"
every food needs some processing but modern foods are overprocessed to make them sterile.
the refined flour used for breads is plain unhealthy.the bread made from whole flour is good.

My grandmother loved sugar, eggs, pork, fish (meercury?),
never smoked or drank though.
Loved ice cream, cake and Utz potato chips.
Stayed thin, was a housewife but did all her own housework,
rarely stopped except to read.
Never had any health problems until she fell and broke
her hip in her seventies, and died at 93.

I'm eating her diet, as best I can,
but I think staying ACTIVE has more to do with health and
longevity than ANYTHING else.

The doctors & nurses try and tell the new diabetic the same thing about eating potatoes. Yet fail to warn them about fats & oils that cause the insulin resistance.

Wheat and potatoes are not directly or simple SUGAR, they are a complex sugar meaning the body has to break it down into sugars. There is a big difference.

If you are trying to lose weight is one thing but if you are diabetic that can be a matter of insulin resistance in which case potatoes and wheat fiber is a big help.
